BMES Family Weekly Update
Week of January 16-21, 2022
Message from Principal Wagner
January 16, 2022
What a week this past week has truly been! There was so many of you that administration was in communication with regarding positive COVID cases or your child being a close contact to an individual in the school setting. I want to thank all the parents that were supportive and understanding during these discussions.
Just a few reminders as we move forward with this peek of COVID in our schools: If you child is developing symptoms related to COVID, please keep them home. We have had numerous students sent home from school who then test positive for COVID. When illness stays out of school, more students are likely to stay safe and healthy.
In addition, if your child has a poor fitting mask, please provide them with a better fit mask. We have been having discussions with students about mask expectations as we work on keeping them as safe as possible.
Tomorrow, January 17, 2022- There will be no school in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. All schools and offices will be closed.
Lastly, next week starting Jan 24, Mrs. Carducci will be hosting kindness week to celebrate our students. There will be spirit days that relate directly on being kind to others, family, self, and the community. Please see that information below for the specific days and various spirit wear!
Have a great evening,
Mrs. Wagner

Parent Resources
Free Tutoring
As part of the division's efforts to address unfinished learning in accordance with the ARP Act ESSER III funds, the York County School Division has partnered with FEV Tutor to provide students in grades 3-12 with free, 1:1 online tutoring. In addition to supporting coursework and homework in core subjects such as math, English/Language Arts, science and social studies, FEV Tutor offers support for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
Along with the on-demand support, FEV Tutor also offers weekly sessions between 7 and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on weekends so families can select the times that work best for their schedule. To get started with e-tutoring, students should log in to Clever and locate the FEV Tutor app icon to get started. They can then schedule sessions and access live help at any time of the day.
While all support is live and personalized to each student's classes and needs, the program does not involve device cameras or microphones - instead all interactions involve a whiteboard and chat feature. Students will be able to share their screens and upload documents to review with tutors, and tutors only have access to student work provided by the individual student. Once a student is signed up for weekly sessions, FEV Tutor may periodically email families and students (aged 13 and older).

COVID Updates
COVID Notice
The division’s COVID-19 Dashboard continues to be updated daily to reflect the members of the Bethel Manor Elementary school community who have entered isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19. For the latest data for our school, please refer to the Dashboard. Additionally, staff members have notified all individuals who were identified as close contacts, as defined by the Virginia Department of Health. If you have not been contacted personally, your children were not considered close contacts. Information regarding contact tracing and quarantine requirements is available in the division’s Safe Return Plan.
Updated Visitor Policy
Due to the current conditions in our community with COVID numbers and transmission, we will no longer be allowing parents to come into the main office unless you have a prearranged appointment. All parents/guardians will be expected to wait outside if they are picking up their child or dropping off materials, effective immediately.

VDH will open nine appointment-based Community Testing Centers (CTCs) in response to public demands for additional COVID-19 testing. The new centers will be located near or on the same property as the Community Vaccination Centers which have been operating since last October. Appointments are required; schedule an appointment using VASE+.
NOTE: The testing center location will be posted on VASE+ as appointments are available.
Inclement weather may impact the opening of clinics. Please check VASE+ before going to a clinic.
