Where?

Join the Literacy Mentor Program at Virginia Cross Elementary School in Siler City! Our school is located behind the Wal-mart in Siler City right near Chatham Hospital.

What?

Our Literacy Mentor Program gives you a flexible way to volunteer and make a difference in a child's life! You pick the day of the week and come spend 30-60 minutes with a student (or two!) who needs reading support and a positive adult in their life!

When?

The Literacy Mentor Program will begin in late September but we take new volunteers throughout the year! We can work to accommodate your schedule.

How?

Not sure if you have what it takes? If you are an individual who cares about children, you have what it takes! We will provide you with a brief PowerPoint training through email before you begin. We will pair you with a classroom teacher who can answer any questions you have! No prior teaching experience is needed.

1. Complete the Literacy Mentor Volunteer Interest Survey. This quick survey takes less than 5 minutes.

2. Click here to complete the Chatham County Schools Volunteer Registration Form. On the right side of the page, you will see "Links."

• If you registered as a Chatham County Schools volunteer last year, choose "Already Registered Volunteers".
• If you are a new volunteer, choose "New Volunteers Registration Form."
