Class Wish List
Concepts We'll Study:
We will continue exploring poetry. We've investigated free verse and the elements of poetry. This week we'll look at narrative and lyrical poems. This will be fun because we'll learn about the characteristics of these poems and begin digging into themes and author's purpose.
Writing Workshop:
Poetry is so fun to write! Students are writing poems together and independently. My sub said that poetry rocks and I couldn't agree more!!
Science:
Students loved learning about sound waves last week with our subs. We'll discuss this and move into thermal energy since last week was a short week. I'll send home their telephones that they made last week. We needed some serious thermal energy support this morning in the gardens!!
Math:
We started creating math conjectures for the x10 multiplication facts on Monday. Next up we'll figure out the relationship between the x5 and the x10 facts then practice this skill. For those that need a challenge, we'll work on two by one multiplication strategies.
Social Studies:
During the next two weeks, we'll be working on poems related to famous Americans who showed good citizenship. When we finish our poetry unit, we'll have a Social Studies Workshop on traits of good citizens and read about people who exemplified those traits.
