Keller High Graduation

Once again I had the honor of representing Florence Elementary and attending the Keller High School Graduation this past Saturday. As I watched the students cross the stage, I was proud of them and proud of Keller ISD. Whether it be with honors or by the skin of their teeth, it took the dedication and commitment of many professionals and families to get them across the stage. There were times I got teart as two little girls that I knew a long time ago gave their Valedictorian and Salutatorian speeches and goose bumps as I saw those students that struggled so much as little guys - make it! I saw so many students with anticipation in their eyes, maturity in their mannerism, and passion in their heart. They were ready for the next step!

We are doing such incredible work at Florence. Your dedication to the whole child and to each students' progress and success is admirable. Teaching is hard work. It is work that is more important then any work out there. Our work touches the future - it creates the thinkers, doers, and workers that will lead us and take care of this world.

Thanks for a great year and for committing your time and talents to each one of our Florence Falcons. You are very much appreciated!

Love,

Laura

Get to Know Canvas

This year Canvas was introduced in Keller ISD. Many of you experienced it through training and initiatives out of C and I. Now that we have a year under our belt with the product, Canvas will become the standard for Keller ISD. So, if you are wanting to get your website up to date - use Canvas. If you want to experiment with some on-line learning - use Canvas. If you want to learn more about Canvas this summer - attend a session at Keller U.

Thanks!!!

Sheltered Instruction Training Update

Good News! We have learned this past week that you will only need THREE update hours for Sheltered Instruction for this upcoming year. If you can't attend Keller U or you couldn't find a session, there will be June, July, and August on-line trainings (150 spots) open in the summer. Be watching Eduphoria Workshop if you need to find options for Sheltered Instruction updates. If the session is full get on the wait list and they will more than likely open it up.

Professional Development and Learning

May 31st: Faculty Meeting 3:30 to 4:30 Technology ipad update and CIP Needs Assessment for 2016-2017.

Please bring your ipads and give to Ann to get them updated in the new system. You will also need your laptop to review the Learning Essentials information and your PLC journals to jot down notes for next year while we analyze the results of the data we collected this year.

Summer PD:

In addition to Keller U, on-line, Professional Books, and reviewing new curriculum....check out the newsletter on Coding from the district. Shelly Shaw and Vicki Arrington have some great ideas and information on how to help students learn about coding. Maybe we could all participate in the nation wide hour of coding this upcoming year. Just something to think about....click on the following to access the Coding Corner, if you are interested.
