Hello from the band room!! Just a couple of reminders: If you child owes for a reed, please send money so that can be paid. Invoices will be sent out soon. Please make sure your beginner students have the needed reeds and oils, they can tell you what they need.
Red Band: We are making tremendous progress and have learned the first 5 notes. Our first playing tests are next week and will be done in class. The numbers are 9, 12, 16, and 17. Please make sure you child is practicing 20 – 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week if possible. We are having our 1st 6 weeks binder check next Thursday, students will receive the correct order this week.
White Band: We wrapped up our first set of playing tests this week and students have been placed in chairs according to their test averages. If students are not satisfied with their test scores they may schedule a time to re-test. This re-test will raise their grade, but not their chair.
We also took our first written quiz over historical and theoretical information in the book. Students are allowed to do corrections, they are due by Friday. The next playing tests begin Monday September 24th. The test numbers are located in their binders and should be circled in their books. Their first binder check is next Thursday, the order will be given in class this week.
Blue Band: We also wrapped up our first set of tests and are seated according to our averages. Re-testing is allowed by appointment and will change their grade but not their seating placement. The first written test was a great success and corrections are due Friday if they want to up their grade. Their first binder check is next Thursday, proper order will be given this week. Several students have received honor band music, if they would like help I am available before school from 7:20 am – 7:45 am.
