SPARC Counselor
Introduction
SPARC introduction
Please allow me to introduce myself as a member of the Columbia Astro Family. I am Mrs. Jennifer Banks, and have been with the Madison City Schools for 3 years. I am a SPARC Counselor, and excited to have the opportunity to work with elementary students through a DoDEA grant. SPARC stands for Strength, Potential, Aspirations, Resourcefulness, and Confidence.
Through this DoDEA grant, I will connect Military and IMPACT aid kids, and also working with new students. I will assist in areas of personal, social, and academic needs of students whose parents are deployed. I also coordinate the ES2S groups (Elementary Ambassador groups)
Previously, I served as a Reading Intervention teacher in Madison City Schools, as well as a School Counselor for 10 years in Birmingham City Schools (Mountain Brook and Hoover). I have a Bachelor of Science in Education from Samford University and a Master's in Counseling from the University of Montevallo.
My husband, Stannon, is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and is a consultant with Guidehouse. I have three children: Anne Madison (Senior at James Clemens), Avery (Sophomore at James Clemens), and Kole (7th grade at Liberty).
If you have any specific concern(s) you want me to address, with either your child or yourself, feel free to email me at jtbanks@madisoncity.k12.al.us
It is my pleasure to serve, along with Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Thompson, and I look forward to meeting your children's needs.
