The latest News

We sure miss all of you! As this is an ever changing situation, we do not have any high level updates. Please continue to check the district web page, be sure you are reviewing emails sent by PUSD, and consider adding the PUSD app. (directions below).

I want to send a special thank you to the WWES staff for all of their hard work in reaching out to families and students. We know this will continue to be a priority to maintain connections with our kiddos. They had just over an hour's notice to prepare for this situation. And they led with their hearts!

As we move in to additional weeks, please be looking for distance learning opportunities being hosted by the district as well as your classroom teacher. However, you are your child's first teacher. Please make decisions that support your family and the needs of your child.

If your child needs a device, information will be coming from the district office as to steps to check one out. They are working diligently to get that process in place to support students learning from home.

Please feel free to reach out if you have questions.

Missing all of you!

Jennie Mikels

Does your child need a device at home to participate in distance learning?

Details will be coming soon to check out a device from PUSD to continue learning from home.

Soon our District will begin surveying our families on their technology needs to ensure equitable access to technology and optional learning resources. Families will be able to call (858) 668-4080 (English or Spanish) or fill out a form to request a device on the PUSD website’s COVID-19 page. We will then coordinate the distribution of devices to students and their families. We cannot proceed with distance learning without ensuring this piece is in place.

Meals Continue at WWES

We are thrilled to share that Nutrition Services will continue to make meals available at WWES every day. These meals are free for all school age children. They do not need to be students at WWES or in PUSD. Meals will include breakfast and lunch M - F from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please hop over and pick up your meals.

Continuing Student Registration Coming Soon April 1 - April 30!

Parents and Guardians will receive email notification once the website is open. We must receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2020-2021 school year. This annual digital process will allow a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student. Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. If you do not have access to any computing device or internet connection, your student’s school will provide access to complete the packet.

In preparation of this process, now is the time to confirm that you know your parent login username and password. This information will be needed to complete the registration packet. Please take a moment and ensure you can login to https://sis.powayusd.com . If you do not know your username and/or password, you can visit https://password.powayusd.com to retrieve your login credentials.

Please notify your current school as soon as possible if you do not plan to return to PUSD for the 2020-2021 school year.

Thank you for your attention to this important process.

We are rolling out a new option for you to be connected with Westwood Elementary School: a free and convenient PUSD smartphone app. The app gives you the option of selecting Westwood Elementary School and any other schools your children attend. The app is a one-stop shop where you can also access school flyers, lunch menus, sports schedules and scores, and more. This app will have the latest information relating to the Covid-19 situation.
