Principal's Message

Dear Mashburn Families,

I am so thankful for Mashburn and I have been so blessed to serve as principal for the past 4 ½ years. I have LOVED EVERY single day I have had the opportunity to serve at Mashburn. You all have been so supportive and encouraging during this journey. I am so grateful for my wonderful career in Forsyth County and especially the time at Mashburn. Thank you again for making my experience at Mashburn so wonderful. Mashburn is a very special place and I know I’m not telling you anything, but the family feeling at Mashburn is so strong and is felt with love and care. Mashburn is truly a place where Together We Are Better as everyone gives so much support, love and dedication to ensure Mashburn is a great place.

I am going to miss Mashburn very much. My plan was to retire in June at the end of the school year, and after retirement to go help my mom who owns a day care. My mom’s director is leaving in December, and she needs me to come serve in this capacity. I am so very sad to be leaving Mashburn, but I am thankful I am in a position to help my mom at this time. Mashburn is in the best of care with Mrs. Swaim, assistant principal and Mrs. Clack, assistant administrator – they are OUTSTANDING and will continue to support Mashburn ensuring students, parents and staff are supported and receive what they need. Thank you all for your support in this decision for me, and again I’m so thankful for my opportunity to serve the Mashburn family.

In January, Fonda Harrison will be coming to Mashburn as the interim principal. Mrs. Harrison served Forsyth County Schools for over 30 years, she served as a middle school teacher, a principal at Midway Elementary, and prior to retirement as Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, as part of her leadership in Forsyth County. We are very lucky and excited to welcome Mrs. Harrison to the Mashburn Family.

A principal for the 22-23 school year will be named in February for Mashburn. Mrs. Harrison will be at Mashburn from January until May. The appointed principal will begin in June for the upcoming year.

Mashburn Families – I am so grateful for you and the tremendous impact you have had on my life.

Love,

Carla Gravitt

A Message From Our Nurse

Dear Mashburn Families,

Hi! It is hard to believe I have been at Mashburn for three weeks! Time flies! I am enjoying my new role as the school nurse and meeting all the students, staff, and parents! Thank you for such a warm welcome. I have been a nurse in many different settings but this setting has to be the very best. My children are in their early 20's and getting ready to graduate from college, so it is very special to spend time with young school-aged children. I am planning on doing the Hearing and Vison Screenings for the first, third. and fifth graders in early to mid-November. More details on this soon! Thank you for your generous donations of supplies to the clinic . We are short on paper towels. If anyone wants to donate this item, it is much appreciated! If you have any specific questions or concerns, please let me know!

Looking forward to meeting all of you! Nurse Missy.
