HYBRID INFORMATION
We are currently operating in an attendance model for in-person students that includes both hybrid and “All-In” days. This model does not impact students in the Virtual Learning Program who will remain home each school day. For this week for in-person students:
Monday, September 28 - No School / Teacher Inservice Day
Tuesday September 29 - “All-In” Day (Maroon and Gold groups attend in-person school)
Wednesday, September 30 - Gold Hybrid group attends in-person school
Thursday, October 1 - Maroon Hybrid group attends in-person school
Friday, October 2 - “All-In” Day (Maroon and Gold groups attend in-person school)
The Board of Education is reviewing data to determine if the fifth week of school (beginning October 5) will take place using the “All-In” model as is currently planned. You will be notified as soon as that decision is reached. A source of information for school calendars is the district webpage at https://www.napls.us/.
On the days when the students are in school, teachers will be providing instruction to the students who are attending in-person. Teachers will not have the availability to provide real-time instructional support to students learning at home during hybrid days. Teachers will prepare work for students for their 'at home' learning day which will consist of a variety of lessons/activities depending on the grade level and subject. It is very important that students complete their at home learning activities to stay current with their learning, and not fall behind on their assignments.
MAP TESTING
This year your child will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). We use MAP to determine your child’s current academic level in reading and math. All students will take the MAP tests in reading and math three times per year. The first round of reading and math tests will take place the weeks of September 21 and September 28 for in-person students at school. The first round of MAP testing for VLP students will take place the weeks of September 28 and October 5 and occur at home. Details about the home administration will be sent directly to VLP parents. To learn more about MAP assessments click here.
FALL BIO BLITZ
Mr. Barnes and Mrs. McNamara have organized an optional Fall Bio Blitz for 5th and 6th graders as a science extension activity using the App iNaturalist. The Bio Blitz activity is open to both on campus and VLP students in Grades 5 and 6. The New Albany BioBlitz will run from Tuesday September 29- Friday October 9. Please review the directions, and overview: New Albany BioBlitz Fall 2020.pptx, There will also be prizes for the top students with the most observations and those that find the most species. Please note, 4th Graders will also have their own Bio Blitz using Citizen Science later this year.
SCHOOLOGY
Schoology is the online learning platform all teachers at the Intermediate School will use this year to post assignments and materials for each course. If you do not have a Parent Schoology Account, your child’s homeroom teacher can provide you with a Parent Access Code so you can signup. Please review this Schoology resource for an overview of parent schoology accounts.
Under each Course for your child, there are two important tabs on the left hand side of the screen. Regularly check “Updates” where teachers can post important reminders and “Materials” where assignments are posted for both in school work and homework. Keep in mind the Schoology App and the web version of Schoology contain the same information, though each look different. Click here for a short tutorial of the web version of Schoology.

Important Note: We recognize that there are currently traffic congestion issues on our “all in” days with additional families choosing parent pick-up, we highly recommend that you follow the suggested drop off and pick off times noted above as car arriving early to wait for drop off/pick up times are causing traffic congestion to build up and last for a longer period of time.
Intermediate students with siblings at the Primary School will be dropped off at their sibling’s designated drop-off location (McCoy Loop for siblings in the blue or purple hallway, Front Primary Loop for siblings in the yellow or green hallway). Staff will help students transition to the Intermediate School.
At dismissal time, students being picked up should report to their designated pick-up loop. Intermediate students should report to the Intermediate/Chatham Loop. This driveway is located north of the Primary School gymnasium and is accessed from N. High St. (Route 605).
