LMS HOOFPRINTS
Lilburn Middle School Newsletter AUG: 2016-2017
Principal's Corner 9/19/2016
It’s hard to believe that our students have almost completed a quarter of the school year. This is a critical time for our students in that they must make sure that all missing assignments have been turned in and that they are on the path towards academic excellence. In an effort to provide optimal learning opportunities for students, we ask that you limit student check-outs for emergencies and medical appointments only. We truly need our students to be present for learning.
Please make sure that you have submitted updated clinic cards for the 2016-2017 school year. In addition, we are encouraging all students to read at least 20-30 minutes per night and write short summaries about what they have read. Most importantly, we need our students to do all homework and review notes daily. Please check your child’s agenda book for homework assignments daily. Also, student grades and progress can be monitored through the Parent Portal. We would like to encourage you to sign-up for the parent portal. Students can monitor their grades, access online resources, and teacher course pages through their “My Student” login. Our 8th grade students will be taking the CogAT (Cognitive Ability Test) during the dates of September 21st-23rd.
At Lilburn Middle School, we are implementing the Gradual Release Instructional Framework and Formative Instructional Practices to support our students in exceeding the Lilburn Middle Local School Improvement Plan (LSPI) goals. Please click HERE to learn more about “Teaching and Learning” at Lilburn Middle School. The attached presentation will share key learning behaviors that are students should engage in to support optimal learning.
We would like to encourage you to attend our LMS Early Release “Parent-Teacher Promise Talks”! Our conferences have been scheduled for Wednesday, September 28th. Information about these important conferences will be coming home in your child’s Wednesday Folder.
Thanks for all that you do to support teaching and learning at Lilburn Middle School!
