Happy Summer

Reading Fluency Challenge

Please check your child's folder for a summer reading challenge that was sent home yesterday. Included in the packet are 8 fluency passages similar to their weekly homework. Attached was also an article about the Summer Slide and how important it is for students to read over the summer. I know this is sometimes difficult to do but I stressed the importance to the class and hope they take my challenge. If they do the reading and bring it back to me with their fluency times documented and each page signed by a parent, I will let them order a book from my first book order through Scholastic. Please help them find time to read over the summer whether they do the challenge or not. They have all worked so hard this year to make so much growth and we wouldn't want them to have to start over again in August.

Summer Math link

The district sent out this link for teachers to share with parents to avoid the summer slide in Math. Check it out!

Many awards were passed out today in our class. Each student was recognized at least twice for their accomplishments. It was often difficult to just narrow the award to one student. Many awards could have been offered to multiple students, but I hope I highlighted some of the students' best qualities in the awards they received. I truly had an amazing, hard working, sweet group of students!

So much fun!

I really enjoyed the year with your children. We especially had fun the last two weeks doing some pretty awesome activities. We ended today with the Dojo Auction and the students had a blast! Please enjoy seeing some of the pictures of our great times. I can't imagine having a better year, or a better class for my first year of teaching 4th grade. I would have kept every one of them! But it's time to move on. They are ready whether they believe that or not. I will miss them and hope they all come back to see me! Have a great summer everybody!!!
