Principal's Message...
Dear Sierra Parents/Guardians,
As the end of the school year approaches, our staff begin the work to create next year’s classes. We are lucky to be going into the 2023-2024 school year fully staffed, and ready to welcome students. Our teachers are some of the most talented educators out there, and on top of that the number of professional development hours completed over the years is not only remarkable, but a testament to their dedication to the profession, our school, and most importantly, our students.
I hope that you all share the same pride in this incredible staff as I do. While we may not be perfect, I can promise you that your children are always our number one priority, and our goal is to always keep getting better. I am confident in every teacher’s ability to reach and teach your children. We take a long time to put together, what we hope will be, a perfectly formulated class each school year. We have a team, that includes general education teachers, special education teachers, our school counselor, our ALC director, and myself to look at everything from academics, gender, personality types, friendships, special services, languages, parent involvement, behaviors, and more to build classes.
Due to my confidence in our teachers, and in the process of building the classes, I will not be entertaining any requests for changes. I kindly ask that you trust in us and our decision making as the educational professionals, and know that we are here to support you and your children throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Reagan Phillips
Principal, Sierra School

The temperature reached the mid 90’s this week. Please remember to back your child with a water bottle and closed toed shoes. Most of the activities for this week were played in the shade due to the heat
Transitional kindergarten to second grade students will be warming up, doing stretches, sprints, and games. Students will start with a lap around the cones and that stretch from head to toe. Our next activity will involve sprints in six groups. Waiting our turn and staying in the lines. First and Second grade students will learn how to play bocce ball (my version of shot put). TK and Kindergarten will practicing bowling the bocci ball toward a line. Following the water break students played with the parachute . Students will play a fun game of frisbee tag with two freezers and a unfreezer in the shade. Finally we will be playing four benches or six trees (similar to four corners) in the shade..
Third to fifth grade students will be completing stretching, sprinting, bocce ball, and playing bulldog. Students will start with a lap around the cones and that stretch from head to toe. Our next activity will involve sprints in six groups. Students will be rearranged by speed each heat to sprint against similar speed students. We will be doing bocce ball and the proper technique to throw the ball. Depending on the heat either bull dog or parachute. Finally we will be playing six trees as our cooldown activity.
