Ready to Take Flight
This Spring semester we will be raising the bar academically with our scholars. In the primary grades we will be asking them to do more independent reading while increasing the level of complexity. We will be transitioning to more independent writing as well. Please helps us by reading daily with your child and having them write about fun topics or about what they read daily.
In the intermediate grades we will be focusing on the transfer of learning to more rigorous work. We will also begin preparing our scholars to take their STAAR Assessment so you may begin to see more passages and word problems for them.
During the month of February we will be hosting two events for parents to come out and get better acquainted with the assessments we use (MAP, DRA, TPRI, STAAR) and how we use the data to work with our scholars as well as provide parents with tools to help their scholars at home. We hope to see lots of parents at our event.

Reminders
Students may NOT be picked up for early dismissal after 3:00 PM. Please help us in this matter.
Don't forget we are on a different bell schedule this year. Doors open at 7:45 am with instruction beginning promptly at 8:10 am. Dismissal is at 3:30 pm.
Breakfast and Lunch is free for ALL Students- There is no longer a need for a lunch application this year.
Parking: This year our enrollment is larger than in past years so staff parking is limited. We kindly ask that parents refrain from parking in the side lot.
We also need your cooperation with not parking in our front lot during dismissal if you are a picking up a front door walker. We have a lot of Front Walker parents blocking the parking lot thereby delaying our car riders. Please park on Gladeridge.
KOALA Kare: If the later start time has you in a bind we have a solution that can help. Koala Kare is quality child care held on campus and taught by certified teachers and school staff. The hours are 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Please visit http://www.koalakare-llc.com for more information.
Dress Code: We will continue with the same dress code as in previous years-

Change in Transportation: Changes in transportation can only be done in writing and must be sent to the front office prior to 3:00 PM daily.
Communication: This year we will be using the Student Agendas to communicate daily with parents. Parents will receive daily behavior information in addition to what was learned and any homework or items to do. If an agenda is misplaced or lost there is a replacement fee of $5.
Attendance: Our Official Attendance is taken at 9:45. If your student is not physically present at that time they will be marked absent.
Dress Code: Please be reminded that if a student comes to school out of dress code we will either call you to bring a change of clothes or if available, provide the student with a change of clothes.
