Santiago Students Recognized by RCOE
Yearbook Recognized on National Level!
Our 2018 yearbook, led by teacher Adrienne Lovejoy, was nationally recognized by Jostens as an example of "excellence, creativity, and innovation." Over 2,000 yearbooks were submitted for review, and we were one of the top schools that were picked! We were featured in this year's Look Book--where the best yearbooks are highlighted for being awesome and where yearbook staffs across the country go to get ideas from their awesomeness.
These students are behind the scenes, at events, club meetings, and classroom performances. EVERY picture in the book comes with an interview--that's a lot of one-on-one talking with staff and students. I'd say out of every group on campus, collectively they know what's going on and understand the culture more than any student. Copies of our book last year went out to over 60 schools at camp because it was one of the top books in the region. Schools are copying our work, and no one knows but us!
Please help us celebrate the yearbook kids' hard work!

BE A SHARK!
BE A SHARK PARENT SURVEY RESULTS
Thank you to the nearly 400 parents who completed our 1st semester BE A SHARK survey in December. We are using the results of the parent, staff, and student surveys to guide us as we continue to work to shape the positive culture here at Santiago.
Be on the lookout for another end of semester survey in May!
As always, feel free to contact the BE A SHARK team at SHSBeAShark@cnusd.k12.ca.us
BE A SHARK: REWARD YOUR CHILD!
We are rewarding positive BE A SHARK behaviors - be sure to look for these same qualities from your students at home and let your student know you appreciate it when they:
S - Show Responsibility
H - Have Integrity
A - Achieve
R - Respect
K - Know yourself
At the end of the first quarter, over 3500 students have received Shark Bytes for displaying BE A SHARK behaviors. Shark Bytes were redeemed at the Shark Shop this week for free ice cream, a free tardy pass, a Shark lanyard, and even a free PROM ticket. Everyday, everywhere, we want students to continue to act out the BE A SHARK values. Continue to show up on time to class and be prepared to work - that's just one behavior that we expect from all Sharks. Keep it up!
