BLOOMINGDALE NEWS
MAY 2019
A message from the Principal
Greetings Bloomingdale Families!
With Spring Break taking up the majority of April, there isn’t much news to report. However, we are looking ahead to a very full and busy end to our school year. We have numerous activities and events that will take place over the final two months of the school year, some that are school-wide, and others that are grade specific. Included in this newsletter is a calendar of events that includes every event that we know of at this point. We will keep families updated with additions, deletions or schedule changes as they occur. Now would be a good time to remind everyone that most events are also posted to the district calendar online.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Niederbuhl Brothers Tree Service for sharing an Arbor Day presentation with all of us, and for their generous donation of seedlings for every student and staff member in the building. Students and staff left school energized to do their part to help make our world a greener place.
State math testing began on April 30th and went very smoothly. Students continue to demonstrate their positive character by committing themselves to doing their very best, not just on the state exams, but every day. We are extremely proud of their efforts and they deserve to be commended.
That’s all for now. Hang on for an exciting and busy end to the school year. It promises to go by quickly!

A note from the Nurse
As we enter the end of the school year, here are a few things to start to think about for next year:
- Students in K, 1st, 3rd and 5th grades are required to have a physical examination performed within 1 year of the start of the school year. Your child’s doctor should complete the required NYS Health Examination Form at this visit and a copy of this and your child’s immunization record should be sent to me here at school. This form is available on the Bloomingdale Health Office web page. If you would prefer for your child to have a physical here at school, we typically will schedule them here in the late fall. I will send along more information on this at the beginning of the school year.
- Any students needing to have medication here at school are required to have a new physician order signed by a parent every school year. Again, these forms are available on our health office web page.
- I will be mailing letters to all parents of 5th graders reminding you of the Tdap booster requirement for 6th grade, your child will need to have a valid Tdap vaccine to enter the 6th grade in the fall.
Please call me anytime with any questions about physical exam and immunizations requirements! Thank you! Nurse Meghan
