Oak Grove Newsletter - October 30, 2020
Oak Grove Families,
It has been an exciting and busy week with school pictures, Halloween celebrations, and remote supply pick-up! Just a reminder that this is the last week of the first quarter and there will be no school this Friday, November 6th. Also, please don't forget about Daylight Savings Time this weekend.
As always, please let us know if there is anything we can do to help your student(s) be successful. We greatly appreciate your continued partnership and flexibility. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. The Oak Grove phone number is 913-288-3900.
One School One Book
Parents/Guardians, One School One Book has begun! We are reading The Wild Robot Escapes. Every family should have received one copy of The Wild Robot Escapes to read together at home. The books were passed out Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The reading schedule is in the book. The oldest child in the family brought home the book. New families, if you would like to read last year's book, The Wild Robot, send me a message, and I will check you out a copy from the library.
- Wednesday, Oct. 28: Green group books sent home.
- Thursday, Oct. 29: Gold group books sent home.
- Friday, Oct. 30: Remote group received their books in the supply pick up.
Look for more info, the video read-alouds, and last year's review on the Oak Grove Website. https://www.turnerusd202.org/our-schools/oak-grove-elementary/parents/one-school-one-book

Inclement Weather
On inclement weather days this winter, there will be no in-person classes for Blended Learners. When school buildings are closed, Blended Learning student instruction will occur remotely via Teams, Schoology, and Edgenuity for children in grades K-12. Pre-school will be cancelled. Instruction will include a morning period of live instruction via Teams (morning meeting, BEAR Time, Advocacy) followed by independent practice like an at-home learning day. For Remote learners, there is no change to the daily instruction.
On days when school buildings are closed, meal pickup will not be available.
As before, decisions will be made regarding school building closure by 5:00 am each morning. When forecasts allow, we will announce the decision the previous evening.
While school buildings are in the hybrid model, we will not use the 2-hour delay option that has been available in the past.
