Salish Ponds Elementary School
September 2023 Newsletter
Welcome Back!
It was quiet in August, here at Salish Ponds. Having students back in the building is such a wonderful thing! We have many returning faces and lots of new faces! Whether you are new or have been here and have another student joining us- WELCOME! We are happy you are here!
Mrs. Bentley and I have been working hard this summer to take the feedback we were given in June and work with our staff and teams, to support your students time at school. We have added some new things for our staff, students, and families too: Every Monday we have an all school assembly, Indoor recess option for friends who would like to play game, draw, or build something, new drop off and pick-up procedures, new math curriculum, and a reading specialists and educational assistants in each Kindergarten room. LOTS of NEW!
As always, I am here for you and your student. If you have an idea that can support our community, want to get involved in the building, or would like to give reflection on systems, please reach out to me. Please seek your teacher first if anything comes up in the classroom first, as they know the details of the day of your student.
I am excited for the year and seeing you soon!
Gracefully,
Mrs. Stevens

New School Times!
Mondays are a late start to allow staff time to learn and collaborate for student success. The rest of the week allows for more student learning time. Please note the new start times for this school year. Arrival and dismissal times are:
Mondays 10:15am – 3:50pm
Tuesdays to Fridays 9:05am – 3:50pm
There is a 15-minute arrival and breakfast period. Students will be recorded as late after 10:30am on Mondays and 9:20am on Tuesdays through Fridays. Please make sure students arrive on time so they can eat breakfast and connect with their classmates. Morning time is a time to check in with each other and build community, and we don’t want them to miss it!
New Circulation map!
On Friday, September 8th, all students took home half sheets of colored paper to help with pick-up after school. Please put this in your passenger side dashboard area. This will support staff to call for students to come out of the building quickly.
Due to county guidelines, we cannot have anyone leaving their car in the "roundabout" in front of the school. We were able to get clearance from the fire department to have families drive up to the front of the school morning and night, to drop off their student to school. If you need support in the office, please park and come in.
