Í kringum tvítugsaldurinn, Chanel byrjaði að vinna með Etienne Balsan sem bauð henni hjálp til að byrja með milljóna króna virða viðskipti í París. Around the age of 20, Chanel became involved with Etienne Balsan who offered to help her start a millinery business in Paris. She soon left him for one of his even wealthier friends, Arthur “Boy” Capel. Both men were instrumental in Chanel’s first fashion venture.
Opening her first shop on Paris’s Rue Cambon in 1910, Chanel started out selling hats. She later added stores in Deauville and Biarritz and began making clothes. Her first taste of clothing success came from a dress she fashioned out of an old jersey on a chilly day. In response to the many people who asked about where she got the dress, she offered to make one for them. “My fortune is built on that old jersey that I’d put on because it was cold in Deauville,” she once told author Paul Morand.
In the 1920s, Chanel took her thriving business to new heights. She launched her first perfume, Chanel No. 5, which was the first to feature a designer’s name. Perfume “is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory of fashion. . . . that heralds your arrival and prolongs your departure,” Chanel once explained.
In 1925, she introduced the now legendary Chanel suit with collarless jacket and well-fitted skirt. Her designs were revolutionary for the time—borrowing elements of men’s wear and emphasizing comfort over the constraints of then-popular fashions. She helped women say good-bye to the days of corsets and other confining garments.
Another 1920s revolutionary design was Chanel’s little black dress. She took a color once associated with mourning and showed just how chic it could be for eveningwear. In addition to fashion, Chanel was a popular figure in the Paris literary and artistic worlds. She designed costumes for the Ballets Russes and for Jean Cocteau’s play Orphée, and counted Cocteau and artist Pablo Picasso among her friends. For a time, Chanel had a relationship with composer Igor Stravinsky.

This article got my attention because of Coco Chanel, she is like my idol. She started at the bottom with nothing, made for herself some dress and other clothes and because of that she got famous, everybody wanted her dress. So she offered to make the dress for them also. My Methods is that I first choose a article that got my attention and that my teacher approved then I translated it into Icelandic witch was allot more fun than I thought.

Romeo Beckham, the 12 year old son of the Beckham couples is the star in the British Christmas campaign of the fashion house Burberry. From London with Love, is the name of the campaign, witch will make your heart beat faster and it will make sure of that it will turn up your holiday spirit.
This 12 year old boy is of course dressed in Burberry from the top to the bottom in this campaign and for sure he has a check scarf from the company and a real coat in kids size. He does not only know how to pose like a supermodel but also he knows how to dance like there is no tomorrow. Foreign press says it’s no wonder that he got his dance talent from his mother who was once in the band Spice Girls (if anyone had forgotten). The Models Hannah Dodd’s and Anders Hayward was also in the head roll off this campaign.
The Campaign is like a love adventure where glitter rains over the well dressed dancing people.
Christopher Bailey, is an artistic director of Burberry, he is very happy with the achievement and says that the fashion house has wanted to show all the best that has been designed from Burberry through the time. He mentioned the checkered-scarfs and the dust coats, they had to show it in a real British weather, that is rain.
This is not the first time that Romeo Beckham works for the Burberry because he was in his first campaign for the company only 10 years old. Sir Bailey choose all by him self in all the parts and he thought for no sure that the young Beckham would play in this commercial. “He has a charm, nice style and there is a nice energy around him,” said Bailey.

12 ára gamall sonur Beckham-hjónanna, Romeo Beckham, á stjörnuleik í jólaherferð breska tískuhússins Burberry. Titill auglýsingarinnar, From London with Love, fær hjartað til að slá hraðar og auglýsingin sér alveg um að keyra upp hátíðlega stemningu.
Beckham-hjónin, Viktoría og Davíð, eiga þrjá syni, Brooklyn sem er 15 ára og Crux, sem er níu ára. Og svo má ekki gleyma litlu systur, Harper Seven Beckham, sem er þriggja ára. Frá því Romeo Beckham fæddist hefur hann verið í sviðsljósinu og virðist kunna ágætlega við sig í því. Myndavélarnar elska hann og honum virðist ekki leiðast nærvera þeirra eina mínútu.
Þessi 12 ára drengur er auðvitað klæddur í Burberry frá toppi til táar í auglýsingunni og að sjálfsögðu með köflóttan trefil frá fyrirtækinu og í alvörurykfrakka í barnastærð. Hann kann ekki bara að pósa eins og súpermódel heldur dansar hann eins og enginn sé morgundagurinn. Erlenda pressan segir að það sé ekki að undra því hann hafi danshæfileikana frá móður sinni sem eitt sinn var í Kryddpíunum (ef einhver var búin/n að gleyma því). Með aðalhlutverk í auglýsingunni fara, auk Beckham, fyrirsæturnar Hannah Dodds og Anders Hayward.
Auglýsingin er eins og ástarævintýri þar sem glimmeri rignir yfir dansandi fólk í sparifötum.
Christopher Bailey, listrænn stjórnandi Burberry, er ánægður með afraksturinn og segir að tískuhúsið hafi viljað sýna allt það besta sem hannað hefur verið hjá Burberry í gegnum tíðina. Hann nefnir köflóttu Burberry-treflana og rykfrakkana og segir að það hafi þurft að sýna þetta í ekta bresku veðurfari - þar að segja rigningu.
Þetta er ekki í fyrsta skipti sem Romeo Beckham starfar fyrir Burberry því hann tók þátt í sinni fyrstu auglýsingaherferð fyrirtækisins tíu ára gamall. Herra Bailey valdi sjálfur í öll hlutverk og fannst ekki annað koma til greina en að hinn ungi Beckham myndi leika í auglýsingunni. „Hann hefur sjarma, flottan stíl og það er góð orka í kringum hann,“ sagði Bailey.

This article got my attention because of that beautiful commercial, it made me so happy to watch and the son of the Beckhams is so gorgeous and is so right for this play. Burberry is and has always been very famous for the checkered scarfs and the coats they used and I just love it both. My methods is that it was so graceful and beautiful to watch and the music and that the Beckham son Romeo is so good at this and so young.

1. How did your passion for fashion start ? and where would you say it started ?
2. Why did you decide to go to Reykjavík Fashion Academy ? and when was it ?
3. What would you say that you had learned in this school ?
4. So what is in your future ? after the student, and will it be something fashion related ?
5. Would you like to go over seas to study fashion much better and in a professional way ?
Her name is Halldóra Guðlaug Þorvaldsdóttir and she is 18 years old just figuring out her life. She has always had really much passion for fashion and especially on clothes since she has remember her self. This passion especially started to fire up in her teenage years when she could go by herself and shop some clothes, and also when she found her favorite store that fitted very well to her style in clothes.
So out of this all she decided to take one other step toward her passion for fashion. There is a fashion school in Reykjavík called Reykjavík Fashion Academy, there you can learn make up, cosmetology, photography and the stylist. She went to the Stylist course in RFA because she wanted to make her self more prepared for further study’s out of seas and also to see if that is what she wants to do in her future. The school was both fun and challenging at the same time.
She believes that she had learned allot, both about business and also all about what the stylist do in the photo shoot. If you are the stylist you handle so much like the clothes, make up, accessories and makes sure that everything looks the way it should.
After the regular student school she wants to travel the world and then after that she definitely will go out of seas to study something related to fashion, it will be a dream come true. Because she thinks that it’s very important that her future job is something that she enjoys very much, cause if you work with something that really is your passion.
I choose her because she is my best friend and also I love her fashion and what she does with it and mix it together and makes something different. She went to this Fashion school at the same time see was also studying for her student graduation. It is really difficult to do these both school at the same time. Her projects where also great from this school and she clearly has her future ahead of her in fashion. I just thought it was a great opportunity to ask her more about what she thinks off it and how she started this all amazing journal.

1. Cameron Russell, Looks aren't everything!!
She has been a model for 10 years. She will make you or at least some of you change the way you think of her after this video. She makes fun of her self, and says this is all an act and she is often very uncomfortable being a model. She is a model just because she won the genetic lottery, she has a light skin and that body for it. She started at a young age, didn’t even have her period yet. Than she talked about it when little kids comes up to her and ask how did u become a model and can I be a model, she was kind of a disappointed because these kids can be so much more like the president or a ninja for example.
Then she explains to people that the photos of her modeling isn’t her at all, this is all a professional making, from the hairstyle, the stylist, the photos are almost every time photo shoot so as you can see it was only her job but it is not a job for your entire life. So she prefers to do something bigger or better like being the president. She talks about what they say while they are behind the scenes and working, then they say it’s amazing opportunity and it is amazing to get to travel and to work with creative and inspiring people but that all only an act because she said that she is insecure and that something she has never said on camera before.
She’s honest and says that it’s too judgmental environment this model industry. But she is very glad that she got to come now and say all these things instead of after 10 or 20 years from now and to have more agency’s.
Why this video!!
I chose this particular video because she is so gorgeous and she is talking about some real stuff. She is a model and that is related to fashion that’s another reason why, but mostly because they talk about don’t judge her by her looks, and it sounded really fun and important to watch, and for sure it was amazingly good video. I’ve already watch it three times. Hope you enjoy it to.
2. Isaac Mizrahi, Fashion & Creativity!!
he talks about how he don’t sleep to much because at night that time is when he things about the stuff he has done and what he shouldn’t have done and that kind of things. So he don’t want to be bored at all times, he tries to do as much as he can, he got a lady who works for him to schedule all his things, he says to her that he don’t want to be bored, so he will take as much as he can.
He is a designer, it started out just with him as a little kid drawing but nothing more came out of it until he was started to study something else. He went to a design school to learn to design. He thinks that it is much funnier if the stuff you make is a mistake, and he says that some part all of his design comes from a mistake, he follows, watch, take pictures of everything and everyone who he sees is interesting. Like he saw once a shirt with a whole on it, he stopped the taxi that this girl was in just to see it and there is no whole then he is like Yes, no one else has done it before. So you can say that everything that is new is a mistake and turns into something amazing. He does not research for ideas he likes to walk around as I said, but he loves to watch old movies and get some inspiration from the color and the women. He also did some cabaret and cooking, so as you can see he wants to keep himself busy, but does not want to get bored at all.
It sounded interesting and it was under fashion. The video is called fashion and creativity, and is was for sure. It helped me too see how he thinks out of the box. It sounded fun to watch and it so was.
3. Jessi Arrington, Wearing nothing new!!
She loves outfits, she blogs about it and thinks it’s amazing when she see’s some new outfits. She don’t buy anything new, she only shops in second hand store. She says it’s amazing cause she don’t spend a lot of money on clothes, and all the money goes to charity, witch is amazing. On this trip for the ted video the only thing she packet was 7 underpants, because she new that she will find something new to wear. She says tha someone says it’s like she is playing dress up or that she reminds her of her 7 year old. But she take it all so well and the only thing she wants to say is Thanks. Cause her mom taught her to be her self and to wear what she wants to wear, because when you where something you like you are happy, than other people around you will be happy so it don’t matter unless u don’t feel happy, she only got this when she was 30. She also talks about how your outfit can show the world your personal style and also to tell them something about you. She has bought a lot of clothes but she is not taking it home with her, she is going to donate it all back. She is learning to let go because she knows in the end there Is always going to be another shiny beautiful outfit somewhere.
It looked so colorful, and joyful so I decided to watch that video. There is also healthy to watch something like this, to appreciate what you got, and to know your personal style and to follow your heart and be happy, if not . Make your self happy by listening to what you want and what you like.
