From Mr. McCall's Desk
It might sound pretty cliché to say I am thankful for all of you, but it is true. This time of year helps me to reflect how thankful I am for all of you. It truly takes a village to make GMS successful. We see you and thank you for all you do for your family, your students, and our staff.
Have a great one. I appreciate all of you.
2 DAYS OF SCHOOL THEN THANKSGIVING BREAK NOV. 23-27.
MAT- Mandatory Academic Tutoring
GMS has a mandatory tutoring program to help students who are failing two or more subjects on Monday through Thursday. Bus transportation is available for students who live in the Greeneville city limits. Students will be expected to have current academic work or skill work available in which they need to complete during their time at MAT.
BOOK FAIR INFORMATION
HELP US STAY HEALTHY. PLEASE SEND IN ANY WIPES, KLEENEX, HAND SANITIZER, or OTHER DISINFECTING PRODUCTS TO HELP OUR CLASSROOMS.
AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION REMINDERS
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GMS ALL-EAST CHOIR MEMBERS
Hard copies of tele-health visits offered by Ballad Health will be going out to students if they have not already brought those home. Ballad Health would like to have the student's information and packet complete to make the process easier by having the parents fill out the paperwork and have on file in case it's ever needed or utilized.
PLEASE CHECK OUT THE FLYERS BELOW IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW NEEDS HEALTHCARE AND INSURANCE
The GCSEF 8th Annual Turkey Trot 5K is set for Thanksgiving morning at 8am at GHS. We need your help sharing information about the event and encouraging participation! I have attached a flyer, registration form, and course map for the event. I have also included links to online registration, GCSEF website, and the Facebook event page.
Early registration ends on 11.11.22 and you must be registered by then to be guaranteed a race day shirt. The school with the highest percentage of participants will receive a $500 cash prize. If you have families that would like to volunteer for the event rather than run/walk, we would love to have them and your school will receive participation credit for volunteers as well.
New for this year: we now offer 2 categories of elementary school ages. PreK-2nd and 3rd-5th. This provides more opportunities for our youngest participants to receive a medal.

TECH INFO- Broken and damaged computers
We are very blessed at GMS to not only have 1:1 technology for every student, but a tech team led by Mrs. Loewenkamp that ensures our devices are always running and working at our Greene Devil Standard. As of late, we are seeing many Help Desk Tickets with both intentional and negligent damage that are keeping students from completing work, taking tests, and overall inhibiting their success. Per our Responsible Use Policy Rules Section B numbers 10 and 23 any damage is the responsibility of the user and if found to be intentional will result in Level II consequences, after school detention.
Students with damaged devices will now be required to fill out a student statement form to keep on file before the device will be fixed or replaced and returned to the student. Thank you for continuing to support your student’s success at GMS.

No outside food is allowed any time at GMS. We understand stopping for breakfast, but please have them finish any food or drinks before they come into the building. Our cafeteria is open at 6:55am every morning and also helps us with any food allergies at the tables.
We appreciate everyone's efforts in our new cell phone policy to not only create a SAFE environment for all our students, but protect our instructional time from distractions as well.
-If your student does not follow the GMS Cell Phone policy and has their phone taken to the office, Parents and Guardians may pick those up that afternoon directly after school or the next morning during school hours.
