Local Option Levy Renewal Information
The Beaverton School Board has placed a five-year Local Option Levy Renewal on the May 15, 2018 ballot. This is a vote-by-mail election.
If passed, Ballot Measure #34-284 would allow Beaverton schools to preserve 300 teaching positions, maintain class sizes, and help ensure students are prepared for post-high school success. The levy renewal costs $1.25 per $1,000 assessed property value, the same tax rate at the current levy. Homes with the median assessed value of $238,000 would continue to pay about $25 per month. The levy would raise approximately $31 million in the first year.

The deadline to register to vote in the May 15 election is tomorrow, Tuesday, April 24, 2018. For more information, contact Washington County Elections at 503-846-5800.

Progress being made at the New Hazeldale Elementary School
Work is well underway at the site of the new Hazeldale Elementary School. Hazeldale is the second of four schools to be replaced as part of the District's $680 million construction bond approved by voters in May 2014.
The current structure, built in 1942, was torn down and is being replaced with a modern, 83,000 sq.ft., two-story building that will hold 750.
Crews are currently working on drywall in the north classroom wing, installation of sheet metal panels, roofing (as weather permits), and preparations for the covered play area.
The new school will open in the fall of 2018.
Keep up with the construction progress with the time-lapse web cam. You can also find construction updates and information on the New Hazeldale Elementary School webpage.
2018-2018 Inter-District Transfer Process
The Beaverton School District’s School Board has agreed to accept Inter-District Transfers for the 2018-2019 school year as described below. If more requests are submitted than slots available, an equitable lottery will be done.
The Washington County School District’s Inter-District Transfer window is May 1 – May 31, 2018. Final decisions will be communicated to parents by July 15, 2018. Students must complete transfer paperwork at both resident and non-resident school district offices.
Please complete an Inter-District Transfer request form and submit to interdistricttransfer@beaverton.k12.or.us. Forms can also be faxed to 503.356.4415 or dropped off at the Beaverton School District Office, 16550 SW Merlo Road, Beaverton. Forms will be available on the Transfers webpage between May 1 - May 31, 2018.
Please visit the Transfers webpage for a list of schools and number of slots per grade available.
Beaverton School District will also review Inter-District Transfer requests from families who believe their reason for a transfer, into or out of the district, is based on a hardship as defined in OAR 581-021-0019 (1) (c). If you feel you have a hardship, please complete an Inter-District Transfer request form and attach a letter or an email stating the specific reasons for the request to interdistricttransfer@beaverton.k12.or.us. Decisions will be made once Beaverton School District and the non-resident school district have reviewed. If the transfer request is approved, the student will be approved through grade 12. If the request is denied, the student should make plans to enroll into their boundary school.
