The Scholastic Book Fair is a great place to get new and exciting books for your child to read. The Book Fair is on the CES stage from Tuesday, Feb. 19th to Friday, Feb. 22. If you would like your child to purchase books, please send money in a sealed envelope with their name & classroom teacher's name.

MATH & SCIENCE FAMILY NIGHT

Wednesday, Feb. 20th, 5:30pm

All families from CES & CUES are invited to attend Math & Science Family night on Wednesday, February 20th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Science activities will be provided by the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum. This event will be held at Columbia Elementary School.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

THE KINDNESS MAIL & GIFT SHOP

The Kindness Shop will be open Tuesday, Feb. 19-22nd. Students can write notes to any student or staff member in our school next week. They can also buy a pencil, lollipop, flower or stuffed animal in a CC Eagle cup until we sell out of them. We are so proud of the students for planting and spreading kindness to everyone!

CASH BASH

The 5th Annual Golden Cash Bash will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Gene Davis & Sons Banquet & Convention Center. The cost is $80 per ticket and each ticket will admit two people. Tickets are available for purchase in all Columbia School offices. All proceeds from this event go directly to Academic, Art and Athletic Grants that support Columbia School District students. In 2018, over $17,000 was raised to support education in Columbia Schools!

If you donate a small item to the Cash Bash Auction Baskets, it will make a BIG difference in education at Columbia! Did you know that our CES teachers can apply for grants up to $500 for their classroom needs? Thank you for considering donating a small item to be part of the auction. Joan Cunningham is our staff member in the spotlight. People around CES like to call her "Joanie." Joanie has worked for Columbia for over 12 years. She has worked at CES as a custodian for 2 years and was a bus driver for 10 years.

MOVE THIS WORLD

This Fall, students at CES & CUES started a program called "Move This World." Students watch short engaging videos to help develop self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills and decision making. Students are learning a common language for expressing their emotions. Ask your child to show you the 10 Emogers!


Move This World strengthens the five core Social Emotional Learning competencies below.

IF YOUR CHILD IS ABSENT

If your child is absent, please call 592-7552 and leave a message including their name and reason for absence. This saves Mrs. Douglas time in the morning because she calls each person who hasn't called in and leaves them a message. Thank you for your help in this matter.
