Earthquakes PBL
This project was all about building a two story house in any place in California for Tony Stark that won't fall in a major earthquake.
Driving Question: How can we, as structural engineers, construct a two story house in California for Tony Stark that will withstand seismic waves?
Our design for Tony Stark was mainly focusing on sturdy walls and durable connectors that can hold the home together. I learned a lot throughout the course of this project. One of the major things I learned is that you need durable materials and a firm base (plywood panels, metal connectors etc..) in order to successfully build a strong home.

30 Hands Project
From this project, I learned about climate change, how fossil fuels effect the world, and the greenhouse effect. I really enjoyed being able to use a different app that other teachers had not introduced to me before (30 Hands App). I also really liked writing the script and planning everything ahead of time. This made it a lot easier to put together the final product.

Invention Convention
Our invention lowers the use of fossil fuels and reduces any unneeded energy use. Since our invention runs off of a renewable resource, it's sustainable and won't run out. Finally, the invention won't emit harmful pollutants into the atmosphere. Our invention is a solar powered blind that can operate on any window. Solar panels will be built into the blind and absorb the energy from the sun. That will allow someone to use that energy (which will be turned into electricity) to then charge their phone or device without harming the environment. Also, our invention will help keep the sun out more effectively which in turn will keep your house cooler, meaning that you won't have to use your air conditioning as often.
