Sex trafficing and Slavery
Slavery then and today
Slavery Then.
Slavery back in 1845 was horrible. This was a time when human workers were needed by the agriculture industry and large plantations so that they could prosper. Slaves were brought to America against their will, were sold at auction, and had no say in their daily lives. Families were often split up, it was illegal to educate slaves. Their living conditions were substandard and they were often beaten when they didn't do what was expected.
Human Trafficking
Trafficking involves exploitation that comes in many forms, including: forcing victims into prostitution, forcing victims to slavery or involuntary servitude and compelling victims to commit sex acts to create pornography. Approximately 80% of trafficking involves sexual exploitation. There are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world today. 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year, 80% are female and half are children. Human trafficking is the third largest international crime industry.
Slavery Now.
People are still taken against their will. They're sold and have no say in their daily lives. Escape is not an option without terrible consequences. Today slaves are most often used for the sex industry, drug industry, or house keeping industry-no longer agriculture.
Hope
I think people are trying to do something about human trafficking, but are unsuccessful. People are probably trying to get police involved but maybe they aren't listening. They shouldn't stop trying. They should have hope and believe in themselves. They should believe that they can do anything that they put their minds to. Its always good to have hope in something. It lets you know that you can't give up on what you believe in. I think that the traffic slaves should not give up hope because there is someone out there trying to get them help. And the helpers should not give up hope because someone that is being held against their will is depending on them.
Poems
Beliefs beyond reality,
Choices for your mentality,
I'd catch you in the night,
Save you from your brutality.
In this poor life we’ve been condemned to die,
Forever stuck in our unwanted caste;
Pawns, broken by society,
Hunched at the pyramid's base we lie;
We are the untouchables of mankind.
"Don't ask, don't tell." he said to me,
as he closed the lock and swallowed my key.
chains and links and links and chains-
silvery irons, with rusted stains.
A monster of darkness, a keyhole of light
Night after day and day after night.
"Don't ask, don't tell." he said to me,
when forever had passed, he set me free...
