Dear Sydenham Families,
We would like to send a shout out to our amazing parent community - you are doing a great job! At times you might doubt this, but please know that whatever you are doing to support your child is enough. We need to acknowledge that there are challenges with being at home, working from home, working away from home and/or caring for your families and maintaining remote learning for your children. This is a lot, and we encourage each of you to pat yourself on the back for what you are doing!
As the school closure and stay at home direction goes on, this can be difficult for students and their families. If you have noticed any concerning changes in your child's behaviour, the Maltby Centre is open and available to help. Please see the link below for information on how to access supports.
We believe strongly that your most important role as caregivers at this moment in time is to maintain positive relationships with your children. If learning at home is a struggle, even in small ways, please reach out to your child's teacher, or Mrs. Marshall. We are here to help and are happy to adjust as needed and provide additional support where possible.
We'd also like to give a virtual high five to our students who have been so amazing at tackling on-line learning. We love to see your faces, we miss you tons.
Mrs. Diamond and Mrs. Marshall
Just a reminder that if there is a day your child is not participating in the provided learning, they will be marked absent. If you have not called in your child's absence via school messenger (please do not call the school as Ms. Reichstein may be working from home that day), you will receive a phone call regarding his/her absence.
May 3-7 is Education Week!
**We use the term "educator" to be inclusive of all educators, whether they are an Early Childhood Educator, an Educational Assistant, or a Teacher (and these days, let's include all you grown ups at home, too!).
Here's some suggestions you can do:
- draw a picture of your educator and send it to them
- email your educator and share a favourite memory and tell them what you like about them
- Write a story or poem about your educator
- dress up as your educator, take a picture and send it to them!
- Write a nice note to your educator, in chalk in front of your house, take a picture and send it to them!
