Work with Hasani Cannon, former Longfellow Bear
We have been so fortunate to have former Longfellow Bear, Hasani Cannon, as our Artist in Residency this spring. The opportunity was funded by a community grant from an anonymous donor to the D97 PTO Council.
Hasani created a mixed-media painting after getting input from all of our K-5 students that will be displayed in the office. The image has also been printed on sketchbooks for all of the students that Ms. Ruff, Ms. Carr and I are passing out this week during art.
I thought you might enjoy watching some or all of the interview I did with Hasani talking about all of the elements included in the painting.
3rd Trimester Celebration - Whole School Bingo- Wednesday, June 9th
The PBIS teams have chosen to do school-wide BINGO for our trimester 3 celebration. We are so proud of how students have followed the Longfellow Motto of being respectful, responsible and safe. This will take place on Wednesday, June 9th from 1:30-2:15 via Zoom. The classroom teacher will project the game for in-person learners; the remote students should log in at 1:30. See link below.

Summer iPads and Restrictions
The students will be bringing home their iPads this summer so we want to share some restriction tips you may want to put in place.
Mr. Arensdorff created this video which shares how to enable restrictions - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pEaHXbqLqLs4rPJb6HasdWwO-bO9y7Ke/view
Parents can sign up for the Securly program through the tech department to restrict / monitor their child's iPad. This can be done by completing the Securly Parent Portal Registration Form.
Parents can also use the Screen Time feature to set content and privacy restrictions. The Screen Time feature can be found in the Settings app. Here are links to Apple Support's directions on how to use Screen Time and how to set up different parental controls
(remember if you are leaving the district, you need to turn in the iPad and charger by 6/10)
PTO Fundraiser Update
Happy Friday! Thank you to all who participated so far in our final PTO fundraiser. So many Longfellow families have answered the call and supported their PTO. We have just a few gaps left (listed below) and need your help to close this out and give next year’s PTO volunteers a fresh start. Remember that these dedicated PTO individuals volunteer their time to make sure all of us have the best school year possible and they represent all of us when taking care of our Longfellow teachers or Longfellow families in need.
The numbers below are the only numbers left that we need help with. Please consider taking one of these numbers and helping us close this fundraiser out today! Remember that everyone who takes a number will be entered in the raffle for the Samsung tablet computer! Thank you for supporting your school and enjoy your weekend!
