What would my schedule be as a tutor?

Tutors submit their availability to the AVID Elective teachers and they create a tutoring schedule based on that availability.


What is the pay rate for a tutor?

The pay rate is $13.86/hour.


Will I be paid for the mandatory training?

Yes, at your current pay rate.


How long does it take to drive from Whitewater to Elkhorn?

About 25 minutes.


What do I wear to tutor?

Tutors should dress in professional attire daily. However, jeans may be acceptable on certain days according to building policy. Check with your AVID Elective teacher for details regarding dress code.

AVID TUTOR TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

The AVID College Readiness System requires that all tutors to receive 16 hours of training each year. Trained AVID tutors are essential to the academic and personal achievement of the AVID students. Attendance at the trainings is mandatory and required for the AVID campus certification process. Tutors will be notified by email the training dates, times, and locations prior to the beginning of the school year.

Application Directions

All applicants must apply on WECAN (see link above). Please follow the steps below to complete the application process:


  1. Create an account (use personal email not school email)
  2. Search for listing under "Support Staff"
  3. Click Search Vacancy
  4. Under "Employer" type "Elkhorn Area School District"
  5. Click Search
  6. Click AVID College Tutor
  7. Click Apply
  8. Complete the requirements on the application page (cover letter, resume, six questions, etc.)


Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with the Elkhorn Area School District will be subject to a background check, physical and tuberculosis test, and illicit drug screening test.
