An update from Principal Williams

Steele Lane Families,

I want to appreciate all of you that are working to get onto the technology and make sure they are connected so that your students can be fully supported. Technology is going to be one of the many teaching tools that we must use during this time of Distance Learning. Here at school, we teach our students to persevere through challenging tasks, so we all need to work together to persevere through this challenge year together.

Our office staff has been working very hard connecting with all of you that are needing support. Please be patient with them they are doing their best to get through all of the e-mails, calls, and requests as soon as they can.

If you need help in English call Maia Barnhart at (707)890-3945 ext. 74101 or e-mail mbarnhart@srcs.k12.ca.us If you need help in Spanish please call Lizbeth, our Family Engagement Facilitator at (707)890-3945 ext. 74104. She will be available to help you. You can also e-mail her at langeleshernandez@srcs.k12.ca.us.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions. I can receive emails in both English and Spanish at awilliams01@srcs.k12.ca.us

May the FORCE be with you,

Principal Williams

Main Office Closed to the Public

Unfortunately, our Main Office is open for support over the phone, but we cannot support any of our families inside. This is because the entire SRCS School District has decided to close all Main Offices to the public. This is due to the increase in cases of COVID-19 in Sonoma County and our position on the "watch list". We understand how challenging this is for many of you, but please know that we are here to support you.

As our staff continues to support our families I am excited to see many of you becoming more tech-savvy! Thank you for trying so hard to stay connected.

Chromebook Distribution Days

Chromebook distribution days will be;

  • Thursday August 13th from 5pm-7pm
  • Friday August 14th from 10am-4pm

Students in 1st and 5th grade will need to return the Chromebook they were provided last year so we can issue them a new one.

All other students who did not receive a Chromebook or students who are incoming kindergarteners will need to come to Steele Lane Elementary School to pick up your device.

Please drive through the first entrance near the Annex building and continue through the loop and exit out near the cafeteria. It will be very similar to how you came onto campus at the end of last year.

Wear a mask and maintain the 6ft distance of others outside of your family. The rest of the campus is closed to the public.

We will be sending out reminders next week, as well as any updates to this process.

*We will not be replacing broken Chromebooks at this time.

Parent Teacher Conferences

During the first week of school, our students will work on getting familiar with online learning. Part of this will include Parent-Teacher Conferences with teachers. Teachers will be communicating with families about how these will take place.
We hope to have more information soon, but please know that we will start this year off by making sure all our families have a chance to meet their teachers - even if it is online. Stay tuned for more details next week.
