Greetings Caruso Families,
Technology moves fast; there will always be something new and to try to keep up with everything available, or repeatedly censor student access to and use of certain applications, is close to futile. The goal with our students is to promote digital citizenship and internet safety so that they make good decisions regardless of what new technology comes their way. I want to bring to your attention some of the latest apps that parents and educators should be cognizant of as you promote and monitor the safety of your children.
You may click here for an article from Common Sense Media about social media applications for parents to understand. One other new app that does not show up on the list is Yellow. It has been labeled by some as Tinder for teens and we know some of our students are aware of it. You may click here for one parent resource that explains it further.
Resources such as staysafeonline.org, commonsensemedia.org, and Raising Digital Natives are populated with great information to further support conversations at home regarding effective digital citizenship and online safety.
Thank you for all that you do to promote the digital citizenship of our students!
Sincerely,
Brian Bullis
