Week 3 - Term 4 - Friday, 22nd October 2021
From the Principal's Desk…
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has certainly already been a term of changing plans. It was terrific to welcome back all our students during the week. I am not sure who was more excited the teachers or the students. As our time working remotely begins to wind back, I would like to sincerely thank all of our teachers, support staff and our parents and carers who have supported the school throughout this whole period with all the challenges and successes that have come our way.
I am including the information I published on dojo with our new plans for the next two weeks. If you are unsure of when your child/children should be attending face to face please ask me or the teacher concerned.

COVID Safe Practices at School:
All learning spaces have a sanitation station. Students and staff are using hand sanitiser when they enter the spaces and throughout the session. Face masks are being worn inside by staff and students who do not have exemptions. All classes are spending at least one session outside per day. When students are outside they do not have to wear face masks but do require hats.
At recess and lunchtime we have split the yard into three play spaces. Prep – Two share a section of the oval and this includes their play grounds with the shade sails. The toilets they use are the ones near 3 / 4W and the drinking fountains on the lower area. Individual drink bottles are preferred. Our grade Three and Four students have the other half of the oval, asphalt area, cricket nets and the 5/6 playground. They are also using the lower level toilets and surrounding drinking fountains. (again, individual drink bottles are preferred). Our grade five/six students have the upper level of the school with the ruins (shade and trees), the large asphalt area, the 3 /4 playground and rotunda area. They are using the upper level toilets next to the canteen and the upper level drinking fountains – again their own drink bottles are preferred.
Every school day we have extra cleaning of the high touch areas and this includes the students tables. They are wiped down during lunchtime.
All classrooms have windows and doors open for ventilation. All of this is in accordance with the departmental guidelines.
A few reminders for term four:
– Hats - please ensure that your child/children have hats. If students do not have hats from week four (next Monday) they will be required to stay in the shade. This is in line with our SunSmart policy. Staff are being encouraged by the department to hold classes outside where practicable. Students will need to wear hats at these times.
– Masks are required for our students in grades three – six to wear inside our classroom spaces (they are not required outside).
– Our chickens are back onsite and happily laying. Thank you to Rosie House for looking after them. We are now selling the eggs back at the office for $5.00 a dozen (we already have a dozen ready to go). Please call the office if you would like some fresh eggs.
– Our Canteen will not be operating until Friday 5th November
Earlier this week you were sent out quite a bit of information regarding the new Department’s Parent Payment Policy and how to order supplies for your child/children in 2022. Please read this and if you have any queries Louise George will be more than happy to answer your questions.
Classes for 2022:
As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, we will have 9 classes in 2022.
The Prep, One and Two classes are relocating to our BER building.
Our specialist areas will be PE taught by Ali Bryan, The Arts taught by Fenna Hogg and STEM taught by Sharon Gellert.
Brooke Wandin will continue to be our Cultural Education instructor.
Bek Clarke will continue to be our Literacy Learning Specialist and PSD co-ordinator.
Chris Kent and Troy Stafford have another year of the Maths Learning Specialist Training to undertake and will start working weekly with all classes across the school on the best teaching practice for Maths.
The Teacher Tutor program will also be continuing in 2022.
Sharyn Borg and Georgia Horsley will be our prep teachers. We are in the process of organising all other staffing. Just because a particular teacher taught a grade level this year it does not mean it will be the same for 2022. If you have an educationally based requests for next year, please put it in writing and send it into me by Friday 5th November.
COVID 19 Information:
I have included a link below to a clip produced by the RCH on COVID in children. This is a very informative video. I would highly recommend watching this as it may answer some of your questions or concerns that you have as we return back to face to face learning and teaching. It has also been sent out via class dojo as well.
Take care, stay well.
Tracey
