March in the Library
2016
Spotlight on Music!
For March, the main display in the library was focused on music. There were biographies of musicians, the histories of many different musical genres, as well as fiction books where music played a major role.
Makerspace
Obstacle Avoiding Robots!
The March Makerspace activity was building obstacle avoiding robots. Students used a kit to build a small robot with ability to turn itself when it ran into something. With Mr. Sleeman's help, we modified the instructions some, choosing to solder the pieces together rather than using tape. These students already had soldering experience having built Mousebots previously!

Classes in the Library
6th Grade
We missed you this month! Hope to see you soon!
7th Grade
Ms. Murphy's Spanish classes worked on a Spanish Food and Culture project. Students came to the library for an overview of the print resources, subscription databases, and websites that were available to use. Students also learned how to share a bibliography in EasyBib so two people could be working on the same bibliography. Students created a Google Slide presentation on their country's food and culture.
8th Grade
In Library Research this month, students each focused on finding the answer to the research question they had created. Students used print resources, databases, and websites to form an answer to their question, making sure to cite all their sources, of course! Each Student then created a presentation using Google Slides and presented their research to their classes.
Book Reviews
Whippoorwill by Joseph Monninger
Sixteen-year-old Clair Taylor’s neighbors are what locals call whippoorwills, the kind of people who fill their yards with rusted car parts and old broken furniture. Clair tries to ignore the ugly junk, choosing instead to dream of a future beyond her rural New Hampshire town. But when a black dog named Wally is chained up to a pole in the yard next door, Clair can’t look the other way. Because Wally isn’t just another piece of trash.
Clair takes it upon herself to save Wally, and the immediate connection she has with the lovable dog catches her off-guard. Even more surprising is her developing relationship with eighteen-year-old Danny Stewart, a boy trying to escape the violent storm cloud that hangs over his family.
Over the course of one fateful spring in rural New Hampshire, two teenagers will ask: Doesn’t everyone—and every dog—deserve a chance at happiness? -From Goodreads.com
