Mrs. Walters' News

Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,

If your family is considering changing to virtual school for the third trimester, you must contact your school principal or school counselor before the end of the day on Friday, February 5th. Virtual families, check your inbox for more information.

Attention families with incoming kindergarteners!!! Kindergarten enrollment for next fall will open on Monday, February 15th! If you have a student who will turn 5 by September 1st 2021, they can start their school journey! You may also sign a waiver for your child to start school if they turn 5 by December 1st 2021. Paper work required includes proof of residency, original birth certificate, up to date immunizations and a health appraisal. Information can be found on our Lowell Area Schools website here.

We have A LOT of lost and found items. If your child is missing something, have them check for things please!

This week, we had a virtual presentation from our friends at Bright Star Theater. They always put on a great presentation, virtual or live! Our students deepened their understanding of different cultures through a program titled “Meet Dr. King.” It was a wonderful introduction to the life and work of one of America’s most influential men. Students were introduced to major concepts of Black History like freedom, integration, and equality.

See the link below for some information on a FREE virtual parent workshop on how you can support your child’s literacy education at home. This presentation is based on the current curriculum being taught in the classroom on a daily basis. We use the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project to teach reading, writing and phonics in the classroom. This is a series of 15 minute small group presentations. Parents can choose what workshop matches their needs. This takes place on Thursday, January 28, 1:00-3:00 pm. I would encourage you to attend if you are interested! Click on this link to register! If you call your child in for an absence, please provide a reason (i.e. not feeling well, vacation, appt.), otherwise our office staff will need to c all you back to fill out our attendance documentation correctly. Thanks!

Are you interested in subbing at Bushnell? See below for the links to get started! Our sub staffing is slim and your help would be appreciated!
