VOLUNTEERS FOR 7TH GRADE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT
On April 9, 7th grade will participate in a CR Spring Parks Community Service opportunity. Kids will be grouped into 7 groups, by their social and emotional learning classes (SEL).
Buses will pick students up at 12:30, deliver groups to Sac and Fox Trail, Bever Park, and Prairie Park Fishery. Students will return to McKinley by 2:40 that afternoon. We will need 1-2 volunteers for each group, to follow buses to the clean up site.
If you are able to volunteer, please reply to this e-mail. If you are unable to volunteer, feel free to ask a grandparent/relative. At this time we do not know which SEL will be at which park; however, we are able to pair up parents with their students.
Thank you!

Engineering Tech - Mrs. Clendineng is looking for a volunteer to help in her classroom. The volunteer would help students with ideas, or help them fix their projects, or help them follow directions. Times would be: 7:50-9:29am Mon–Thurs. and 10:25-11:14am Mon-Thurs. It wouldn’t require any background knowledge, just a little creative thinking and helping answer questions about directions. If interested, please e-mail Mrs. Clendineng at jclendineng@cr.k12.ia.us or respond to this e-mail. Thank you.
Financial Literacy Fair - May 15 (8:45-noon)
On May 15, 8th graders will participate in the Linn County Financial Literacy Fair at the Kirkwood Linn County Regional Center in Hiawatha in the mornings. In class, students learn about life decisions that affect financial well-being. Based on their interests, they select a career, and determine a starting salary. Then they attend The Fair to face the reality of monthly bills for necessities (housing, transportation, food, etc.) and budgeting. When they have made their financial decisions, they’ll meet one-on-one with a financial counselor to do the math and discuss their choices! A brief volunteer training is provided before students arrive. No experience necessary! CLICK HERE for more information; or, respond to this e-mail.
