Happy Sunday Pirate Families!
It's been a busy week in the boro' with celebrations, victories and high impact learning in our classrooms. Celebrations this week included Cannon Tootle being recognized as the North Carolina soccer player of the year, Chrissy Taylor as the North Carolina assistant soccer coach of the year, Jennifer Griffin being recognized as the district high school science teacher of the year at the North Carolina Science Association ceremony and victories for our JV boys basketball team on Monday and Tuesday and to our varsity boys basketball team on Friday against Croatan in an exciting overtime victory. Congratulations also to our wrestling team for bringing home a victory on Thursday night, our swim team for coming in 2nd place on Wednesday and 1st place on Saturday. and to our winter track students who continue to have outstanding performances.
This week will include spirit week, homecoming games/court on Friday and the dance on Saturday, the ACT Work Keys assessment on Tuesday as well as make up senior pictures on Tuesday. We have basketball at Richlands on Tuesday, at home on Thursday and Friday. Wrestling is at home on Tuesday and we have a tournament at the Jerry Daniels Invitation on Saturday. We also have track at home and swim at New Bern on Wednesday. Spirit day activities will include 'Merica Monday, Vintage Tuesday, Wacky Tacky Wednesday, Character Day on Thursday and class color wars on Friday. Seniors can wear togas on Friday but they must be appropriate length with clothes underneath. Color wars will include royal blue for freshman, white for sophomores, Carolina blue for juniors and navy blue for seniors.
Students participated in a goal setting workshop during homeroom on Friday. As we close out this 1st grading period and report cards are sent home, parents are encouraged to review attendance and grades with students. Students have been reminded about the importance of reflecting on their performance and setting goals to ensure their continued success. Students who return their goal setting sheet tomorrow morning will receive a treat.
