Principal's Message
Lights, Action, Camera
We are excited to have some special visitors on campus next Tuesday, the 19th. All LASD school sites will have a media team visit, where they will be collecting staff, student, and parent interviews, as well as classroom video clips with the goal of creating a professional video to promote each of our schools, in addition to the district and special programs within the district. Please know that students without media release permission will be out of sight in any classroom footage.
We want our whole community to know that Springer is the place to be!
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
Warmly
Robin

Springer STEM Expo is March 20!
If you’d like to volunteer to be a reviewer, click here: VOLUNTEER. Thank you to those of you who already signed up! No science background is needed to interview our students about what they discovered. I am still looking for about twenty more volunteers to help our Expo run smoothly. We can do it with less help but the more the merrier!
If your child is participating, look for information updates via email. I still have 31 boards waiting to be picked up. For more general information about the STEM Expo, go to tinyurl.com/lasdstemexpo. If you have any specific questions, email Ms. Craddock directly: jcraddock@lasdschools.org.
Even if your child doesn’t have time to do a project this year, come check out what other students have created and discovered on March 20th from 4:30-7:00 at Springer. Gold Rush Eatery will be bringing their food truck if you want to have dinner at the Expo!
See you there!
Ms. Craddock
Thank You For A Successful Book Fair!
Dear Springer Community,
Thank you for another successful Book Fair! We raised close to $3000 for Springer and the PTA was able to place over 250 books into the classrooms. Also, with your generous donations, over $300 worth of new books will be donated to Reach Potential who help under-served youths in our area.
Our Book Fair would not have been successful without the help of our many volunteers who did setting up, cashiering, helping students and packing up. We would like to thank Claudine Sheridan, Erik Flowers, Raelene McAteer, Brooke Lopez, Priya Ramajaran, Julia Meng, Elodie Laplace-Grangier, Christy Kirkpatrick, Christy Flahavan, Alvin Yan, Hongyan Zheng, Kate Sewell, Holly Jacobs-Khazam, SungEun Yoon, Teeta Kochar, Suzan Grisanti, Pamela Davies, Sarah Cunningham, Brooke Tassa, Shree Krishnamurthi, and Sonny Jandial for their help.
Our next Book Fair will be held November 4-8, 2019. If you love books and would like to volunteer, please contact Sandy at sandymoon@gmail.com.
Book Fair Chairs,
Sandy Moon, Ann Kanodia, Grace Tanggara Chaw
STEM Career Day Events at Junior High Schools
LASD & LAEF are excited to kick off the 3rd STEM Career Day Events at Egan and Blach Jr. High Schools this spring. STEM pervades every part of our life. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. We believe that exposing students to different aspects and careers in this field will inspire them and spark passion.
If you are a parent, grandparent or community member who would like to share your career story with students at Egan on March 25 and/or Blach on March 26, please contact Karen Wilson, STEM Coordinator at kwilson@lasdschools.org or Anjana Nagarajan-Butaney, LASD parent at anjana.nagarajan1@gmail.com
Also, please mark your calendars for the STEM Night Event being held on Monday, March 25 at Egan Jr. High starting at 7pm. Speakers to be announced in the near future.
