Sequoia Middle School Monday Memo
Monday, May 30th 2016
I hope everyone had a great three-day weekend and are ready to finish out the 2015-2016 school year strong. It was a birthday weekend for me and I would like to thank Klay Thompson and Steph Curry for making it memorable. We are having a Golden State Warriors Spirit Day on Thursday - so make sure you wear your gear to school on June 2nd to represent the home team.
Here are the updates for the week.
Last Day of School:
We are finalizing plans for our last two days of school.
Promotion Practice, 8th Grade Picnic, Yearbook Signing, Promotion, Last Day of School.
I will have a final copy of the coverage's ready by Thursday to share out with staff. Thanks in advance for all your hard work over the last two weeks and in particular the last two days of school.
We are down to ten tests to go. Thanks for everyone's support during this process. The state has told our Research and Assessment department that scores should be ready by July. I am looking forward to looking at longitudinal data for our students now that we have two years in the books.
Lisa and I went to a great workshop on EADMS (which is the new OARS) for data management. The program is web based and was pretty easy to navigate. Also, it has a built in relationship with AERIES.NET, and is very easy to move back and forth between the two. We will do a little demo on Wednesday, June 8th during staff meeting.
Summer Resources for students:
We are in the process of building a summer resource page for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. During grade level meetings on Wednesday we will be reaching out to staff for resources that we can share with our students for summer enrichment/review. We are attempting to avoid the summer slide (see graph below - Thanks Beth for sharing).
