Summer Home-School Connection
August 17-21, 2020
Important Message from Mrs. Zagala
This week we are welcoming our teachers and staff back for their week of professional development and preparation for the new school year. Teachers will be working hard to get ready for online learning that begins on August 24th. The teachers and staff are excited to start this school year and to meet their new students.
Thank you to all of our parents that have already selected their child's instructional program for this year. If you have not made this selection yet, please do so by this Sunday, August 16th. Selecting your child's instructional program will help us to best plan for the start of in person learning. If you did not receive the email, you can access the form at this link: https://backtoschool.nisd.net/ . You will need your child's birthday and school ID number.
I realize that this decision is a difficult one to make under these circumstances. I have created a short video to show you all some of the safety precautions that we have set up for students that have signed up for in person learning. The video is linked below for you.
This week we have two exciting events to kick off the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We hope that you can join us for "Popsicle's with the Principal" this special event will take place on Wednesday, August 19th. We hope that you and your child can drive through our front drive for a Popsicle. Students will also receive a bag of supplies and their workbooks for virtual learning. Students will be able to find out who their teacher is on this day as well. We have a virtual "Meet the Teacher" and Orientation on Thursday, August 20th. Grade levels will present together. Each teacher does have a class list, but due to the two platforms that will be offered in the fall and the likelihood that students will be transitioning between these, class assignments may change as students switch platforms. We feel it is best to meet all of the teachers at one time and for grade levels to have common expectations. You will see the information for both these events below.
Have a great week and be well!
