New announcements:
OCEAN Mural Celebration Mon. April 17, 11:45am
All families are invited to attend the unveiling of the new OCEAN School Mural for next Monday, April 17, at 11:45 am, outside the OCEAN office. The panel will be mounted on the wall of that portable, facing the parking lot. We would be honored if you would like to come by.
We will have a brief presentation by some of the LABWell students involved in the creation of the mural and snacks to celebrate. Students, families, and staff will be present.
Returning OCEAN Student enrollment - Due April 30
Now is the time to start making plans for your students enrollment for the 2023-24 school year. For all students in grades K-11 please use the link below to complete this form no later than April 30.
Returning OCEAN Student enrollment - Due April 30
We use this information to plan staffing and determine new student enrollment. If your student is making satisfactory progress in OCEAN and you complete this form indicating they will be returning they will be enrolled in OCEAN for next school year.
PT PTA with School Board Chair April 19 at 7pm
The PTA is hosting an evening to help parents learn more about the Port Townsend School Board.
Wednesday, April 19th from 7:00pm - 8:30pm
In person at the Gael Stuart Building Boardroom (1610 Blaine Street) or online via Zoom. (Please scroll to the bottom of this email for zoom link and details)
The PTA invites you to learn more about the School Board, their relationship to the schools and our kids, policies or recommendations within their purview, and how we as parents can support our School Board and become more involved in decisions that impact our kids. Come meet Doug Ross, current PT School Board Chair, who will provide an overview of the board and then open the floor for Q&A.
We'll also be announcing some PTA sponsored events and activities taking place before graduation and ways you can get involved.

OCEAN Student of the Week
Maes Chapman is the OCEAN School student of the week nominated by teacher Koyuki Fritchman.
OCEAN Senior, Emilia Ramsey was nominated by teacher MB Armstrong. Emilia is a phenomenal leader at OCEAN. She is not only the President of the ASB she helped create it! Emilia helps lead student organized events, makes sure to include and elevate all voices and brings joy to students of all ages. All this while maintaining high academic achievement in all of her classes. In addition, Emilia serves as a student representative to the Port Townsend School District Board of Directors.
OCEAN School eight grader Violet Peterson was nominated by teacher Daniel Molotsky.
Violet is an incredibly hard worker. She completes all her assignments and goes the extra mile to make them sparkle. Violet is an important member of our violin class and demonstrates a deep love for music. She has a great sense of humor and is kind to all her peers. On top of all this she is learning to be a mariner in the Maritime Boat class.

Family Resource Night Wednesday April 19th at 5:30
Parents! Adults! OCEAN staff is standing by to help support your work at home. Join us for an evening of K-8 Math/Science support with MB, Koyuki, Judd and K-12 writing support with Katie and Judd. Dinner and childcare is provided so we ask you to RSVP to MB by Monday April 17th so we can plan accordingly.

OCEAN Field Trip: Friday May 5th Museum of Pop Culture - Seattle, WA
We are going to the Museum of Pop Culture to enjoy a day filled with music, pop culture, entertainment, and fun in Seattle.
WE NEED CHAPERONES
K ~ 5th Grade = 1 chaperone : 5 students
6th ~ 8th Grade = 1 chaperone : 7 students
9th ~ 12th Grade = 1 chaperone : 10 students
CHAPERONE VOLUNTEER FORM: If you want to go to be a chaperone, make sure you fill out volunteer paperwork. You only need to complete this ONCE every other year. Select this link

Trip Leaves: 7:15 AM on Jefferson Transit Bus to Kingston Ferry Terminal
Trip Returns: 5:30 PM @ Haines Place Park and Ride (Next to Safeway)
What to bring: Backpack to carry your water bottle, lunch, and snacks. Wear comfortable shoes to walk in. We will be walking about 4 miles round-trip in Seattle from the Ferry to the Museum of Pop Culture and back.
