Internet Safety
Be careful what you do on the internet or on a computar!
Don't give out personal information.
Don't give out personal information because if you gave someone your address or something they would probably track down or something like that and they would most likely kidnap you or kill you. So don't give out personal information.
Use a good password.
Use a good password because if you don't there will be problems. For example, your password is Ron123 for facebook. Your password for your gmail is 123Ron. Those are obviously bad passwords. A password you should have is something like this, Sw!mTeam!sT#eB3st!
Don't meet with people your "friends" with online.
Don't meet with people your "friends" with online. Let's say you're on a dating website and you meet this guy who is 26 and lives in your hometown so you think to yourself that you just have to see him then and it would all work out because you could introduce him to your parents and everything would be swell. So you tell about yourself a lot and he talks to you. Eventually he asks you for a bunch of money and since you love him he you send him the money telling your parents it's for a college class your taking. One day he says he wants to meet you, but he can't meet you but you could meet him. So you fly out to California somewhere and realize it's all a scam. So don't meet with people your "friends" with online.
Use a password that's at least 16 characters long.
Use a password that's at least 16 characters long. Don't use a wimpy one like 123456 or something like that because someone could easily remember/hack into your computer, social networking site, etc... The reason your password should be at least 16 characters long is because it will be less likely for someone to get into your stuff.
Be careful what you say online.
Be careful what you say online. What you say online can effect someones life. If you call someone names, and spread rumors about them, they may end up killing themselves to be careful what you say online.
Cyber Bullying
Everything you do online is saved to "The Cloud."
Everything you do online is saved to "The Cloud." If you take a photo of yourself inappropriately it will be saved and anyone can search it. It doesn't matter where you are or what it is you do it will be saved so just a reminder, everything you do online is saved to "The Cloud."
Don't give anyone your password even though they're your friend.
Don't give anyone your password even though they're your friend. Just because they're your friend doesn't mean that they don't want to know what's going on on your computer or other internet related things. If you give ONE person your password they could either
- Give it to a bunch of other people or
- Get into your stuff
So be careful, and figure out who you can REALLY trust with your password.
Only friend people on social sites that you know.
Only friend people on social sites that you know. For example, friend people such as your parents, your relatives , and your friends from school. Non-examples would be, friending the random dude down the block, and friending the person who has a picture of a celebrity as their profile picture saying that they're the celebrity. Those aren't very good choices. ONLY friend people you've SEEN IN PERSON.
Make sure to log out of everything or your computer when you're done with it.
Make sure to log out of everything or your computer when you're done with it. Lets say you go to the library and need to use the computer. So you go in and use it, but you have to go on a bunch of emails and stuff that involves logging in to them. So you do that and you do your projects. Your time is almost up so you hurry and just hit the BIG red "x" without logging out of your stuff. Then a person comes and looks through your stuff. So make sure to log out of your stuff when you're done.
Don't do anything bad on your computer you wouldn't do to your grandma.
Don't do anything bad on your computer you wouldn't do to your grandma. If you have this erge to do something bad on the internet, on your computer, or say something mean, just think if you were saying it to your grandma. Would you really send or say something really mean or nasty to your grandma? Just think of it that way the next time you want to do something like that.
