Get your speeches and PSA’s ready! The Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Public Speaking Contest will be held in-person on April 27 at our office. Registration deadline is Friday, April 16. 4-H Cat and Small Pet Show Informational Meeting - Next Tuesday
When: April 20, 2021 at 6PM
Where: 8015 W. Center, Omaha
Open to kids ages 5-18 in 4-H who own a cat, lizard, fish, rat, hamsters and more!
This show is based on animal health, care and the 4-H'ers knowledge - not judged on breeds.
4-H enrollment informational will be given out at the meeting. 4-H t-shirts will also be available for purchase (checks are prefer, but we can also take cash).

The Imagine Science-Omaha team is looking for 4-Hers to participate in Demo Day. This day is designed to help our teen teachers and interns practice facilitating for camps this summer. Demo day will take place on June 4th, 2021 from 9:00am-12:00pm at the Extension Office.

Fair Project Idea - Shopping in Style!
Consumer management helps participants learn more about how to make smart fiscal decisions and how to improve financial literacy.
Shopping In Style Identify your body shape and select clothing to enhance it; Learn how clothing prices are determined and how to comparisons shop; Analyze advertising and more! Check out the curriculum here.
The Shopping in Style project can be entered into the fair and modeled in the Fashion Review. Check it out in the Fairbook here.
New 4-H Shirts
The 4-H Staff is excited to share our new t-shirt design! These are charcoal grey shirts with white lettering depicting all the areas 4-H represents. These shirts can be worn by youth at 4-H shows.
The cost for the new shirt is $10.00 (tax included). The cost for the old design shirt has been reduced to $5 (tax included). Checks or cash are accepted. Exact change is appreciated.
These can be purchased at the Omaha office (8015 West Center Road) between the hours of 8:00 and 4:30. They will also be available for purchase during the Fair.
We can't wait to see these shirts all over town. Send pictures of your 4-Her in their new shirts to Rachel here.

STATEWIDE AND NATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Biggest Grower High School Gardening Competition
Registration is now open for the Biggest Grower High School gardening competition. Students will receive seeds/plants and basic tools. They’ll be added to a team and the members of the team that grows the most will win a prize. Juniors and Seniors can also win a scholarship to the UNL Agronomy and Horticulture Dept. I’ll be able to help students that need it, and we do have some staff that will be offering training as well. We also plan for an on-campus event if COVID protocols allow.
High school junior and senior participants will have the opportunity to apply for a College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Department of Agronomy and Horticulture scholarship of up to $1,000.

3D Modeling via Zoom
For youth 8 years older
Learn how a 3D printer works & create your own 3D printed design. Within this workshop, you will create an account and use free online software to learn basic computer aided design. Upon completion of your 3D model, you may email the instructor your file and the 3D print will be mailed to you at a later date. Offer is limited to residents of the continental United States and one 1-hr print per registered participant.
Upon registration, please select the preferred date for attendance. Cost $20.

Youth For The Quality Care Of Animals (YQCA)
Week of the Volunteer Lunch and Learn series registration is OPEN!
The Week of the Volunteer is coming up at the end of April, and we're looking forward to celebrating our amazing 4-H volunteers! To celebrate we're hosting daily Lunch & Learn sessions from Monday, April 19 through Thursday, April 22, each from 12:00 -1:00 pm CST. Session topics include: Incorporating Positive Youth Development into Your Work, How to Keep the 4-H Experiences Fresh, Leading a Club that Works, and Confidence in Conflict Resolution. These are great for new and experienced volunteers as well as individuals interested in getting started. Each session will include 30 minutes of content followed by 30 minutes of discussion and networking time. Sign up to join us at go.unl.edu/lunch-learn.

PINK Ear Tags for County Only Beef and Swine, as well as EID Tags for Nebraska State Fair/AKSARBEN Beef and Swine are available for purchase at the Omaha or Papillion Offices.
DNA envelopes are also available for market animals intending to be exhibited at the State Fair or AKSARBEN. This is for Market Beef, Sheep, Swine and Meat Goats
All Breeding and Market Animals being exhibited at the State Fair need to be nominated by June 15th at Show Stock Manager Login (showstockmgr.com) All payments for nominations and DNA are made on this site. (We do not accept these payments in the office)
All DNA Envelopes must be turned into the 4-H Office by June 15th.
