Principal's Message
We are ending our February this week and just like that we are into March. Time is fleeting by and our student's learning goals is of urgency. I had the pleasure of visiting with most teams during PLCs this Thursday. I noticed the good work of teams working cohesively to discuss learning standards. You hit it right in the sweet spot because I noticed you working as a team to dive into DuFour's four PLC questions in various forms.
1) What do we want students to know?
2) How will we know when they know it?
3) How will we support students that don't know it?
4) How will we support students that do know it?
Many teams had healthy debates on how to provide intervention or acceleration as you all are shoring the instructional plan. As a professional learning community, we are here to think together, give suggestions, and help you with your instructional plans.
Using data supports intervention/acceleration plans because you garner a deep understanding of what student's learned and didn't learn. This in turn informs you to make the best instructional decisions.
However, the important thing to do is to act and not wait. Know that your instructional leadership team is here to support you as you continue to plan the next moves for our students.
I also want to take the time to thank the specials team for a wonderful job done on Go Texan Day. Parents were raving about the new dances their children learned. The presentation was well thought out and involved the entire fine arts team. Great job! I also want to thank the classroom teachers, especially those that had high parent attendance for your open house time. We noticed great activities and hands on activities by students and parents! Learning together as a community supports the efforts we strive for. It was evident we are living our core beliefs!
With love, respect, and admiration,
Rachel Martinez
