Lady Macbeth was responsible for Macbeth’s downfall, even though some people believe it was the witches fault for Macbeth’s downfall. “ Gentle my lord, seek o’re your rugged looks; be bright and jovial among your guests tonight” (Shakespeare 89). This quote proves that even with the crime that the committed Lady Macbeth still she doesn’t show any regret emotionally and even with her actions. Lady Macbeth would rather act as if the crime had not been committed in the first place and tell Macbeth to do the same and have him hide all the emotions he is feeling behind a fake smile.
“ I pray you speak not he grows worse and worse; question enrages him” (Shakespeare 105). This quote is showing that even though Macbeth is obviously mentally ill, she would rather her guests no one try and help him with his sickness due to the thought of her guests finding out the truths behind Macbeth’s madness, and there secrets being revealed.
“ When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more than a man” (Shakespeare 43). This quote is an example of how in control and forceful Lady Macbeth was. In the beginning of the book Lady Macbeth was very pushy she wanted to become Royalty so bad she was willing to commit murder. She couldn’t do it alone so she involved her husband and mocked him into doing it by basically saying he wasn’t man enough and that becoming a King would make him a man. This is why Macbeth had a downfalling because she made him technically crazy and she herself also went mad. If it wasn’t for Lady Macbeth none of things that happened would not have necessarily occurred. Power and fame took Lady Macbeth’s mindset.A literary device used in this book that was taken notice of would be imagery, " And on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood, Which was not so before" (Shakespeare, 51). In that quote Macbeth is talking to himself about the scenery he imagines of what it will be like if he kills Duncan. He gives a very visual and descriptive view point of what it will be like so the reader gets a picture of what the dagger will turn out as, after the killing the king. That quote is an example of Lady Macbeth causing his downfall because she was the one who made Macbeth question his actions of becoming a murder in the first place.
A connection i made with Macbeth would be the movie "The Lion King". I made a connection between these two because in Macbeth, Macbeth kills King Duncan so he have power and become King. Which leads me to the connection with the Lion king. Mufasa is the "king" of all the different animals but his evil brother Scar wants the throne for himself so he kills Mufasa so he can have all the power and become King. That concludes my smore for this specific book.
