Let it Snow, let it snow, let it snow?!?!
Twin Oaks Families:
Division is all around us. Whether it be political, social, religious, or cultural differences of opinion, there is no shortage of view points. But come on, people. Let's get serious for a minute. As winter looms large, we ALL know that there are really only TWO clear TRIBES of people . . . those who WISH FOR SNOW, and those who DO NOT! I believe that where you land in this controversial debate says a lot about you and your personal philosophy of life.
In which camp are you firmly planted? Does your mind instantly go to snarled traffic, fender benders, power outages, and being trapped in your home? Or are you imagining snow covered evergreens, a hot cup of cocoa by a blazing fire and building an adorable snow family in your front yard? In their most extreme forms, one might categorize these two tribes as negative and positive people, pragmatic and optimistic people or even grim and euphoric people.
So there you have it, my latest metaphor for life - SNOW DAYS. Yes or no, in or out? Despite our strong differences of opinion on the topic, I submit that there is only one logical approach . . . we must prepare for the worst and hope for the best. With winter break fast approaching, I say "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"
What's happening in School this week: Students have all been working hard the last couple of weeks, managing their feelings, and resolving conflicts with their friends. My counseling ticket box has been quite manageable as a result of their responsible behavior. Therefore, to reward their effort, I will be giving our students a break from lessons this week; and instead we will play some fun games during their regularly scheduled Counseling Lesson time!
Featured in this newsletter issue: Weekly Message, Problem-solving/Time Machine examples, Classroom Counseling Lesson Schedule, How to Access Mrs. Miller Online, Parenting and Community Resources.
