A Note from Ms. Owens
Thank you to all the families who were able to participate in Packet Pick Up. It was great to meet so many new people - both parents and students. The sounds of kids playing in the gym was music to my ears! Packet Pick Up truly helps the school get prepared for the start of the year. Thank you to Mrs. Omiecinski and Mrs. Malone for all their behind the scenes work that helped the evening run smoothly. And we need to give an extra special thank you to the fabulous crew who volunteered to break down the tables from the evening and set up hundreds of chairs for a funeral mass happening on Friday.
I also want to say a huge thank you to all of you! All of the heartfelt work you do to promote SCA means we are welcoming 44 new students from 35 new families. Families play such an important role in marketing and recruiting. Thank you for all of your efforts.
And finally, school starts on Wednesday and we are so excited to welcome the students to the new school year. I'm looking forward to the school being filled with sounds of laughter and learning! Below I've listed some pertinent details for the first three days of school:
Wednesday
- PK dismissal at 10 AM
- All other grades dismiss at 11 AM
- Ice cream social from 6:30 to 7:30 PM
Thursday
- Lunch and milk service begin
- Before school care begins
- Dismissal at 1 PM
Friday
- All-school liturgy
- Dismissal at 2:45 PM
- Extended day after care begins
Peace,
Kristine Owens
Getting Classrooms Ready for Our Students
What's Happening with Gym During the Renovation?
Due to the church renovation, through the month of September, gym classes will be held outside or in classrooms as dictated by weather conditions. We also know that this time of year can bring very warm weather, and Mrs. Franks has a plan to provide students the chance to move and burn off energy without running around. On those very warm days, Mrs. Franks will be talking her classes - 3rd through 8th grades only - on a walk for gym class. The path they will walk is pictured in this post.
If you have concerns about this for your student(s), please let us know.

Lunch Parents Still Needed
Supervision is needed from 11:20 to 12:35. Parents can work from one to five days per week, and lunch room parents earn tuition credits for each lunch they supervise.
If you are interested in serving as a lunch parent this school year, please complete this Google Form https://forms.gle/CezNpn3zXWn7JZV78. (Link has been updated - 2:50 PM on 8/19)
Our New Staff
- Mrs. Kristin Reed has shifted her role and will serve as our reading resource teacher in the primary grades.
- Mr. Steve Mohr has moved to our junior high team and will be teaching 7th and 8th grade science.
- Mrs. Kim Felmon has joined the staff as our science teacher for 5th and 6th grades.
Church Renovation Update
The next steps will include removal of carpeting and tile, and this involves asbestos abatement. During the abatement process, the church doors as well as the vents will be sealed, and the HVAC (air conditioning) will not be in operation. Abatement work will not involve the vestibule; entry and exit will happen via the wooden doors off the back parking lot. The official notification regarding this abatement project is at the button below this section.
We know families are concerned about the hot weather that often accompanies the start of the school year since we will not be able to use the church. Because masses are being held in the gym, we won't be having gym classes there and will be able to use it as cooling center. Additionally, once the HVAC in the church can be turned back on, we can use the vestibule too.
