ESTAR/MSTAR Winter Assessment window is now open. The window for the winter assessment is Jan 7th - Feb 8th. Grade 2 - Grade 5 teachers please administer to all students by the end of the winter assessment window.
Literacy
NEW ITEM: 4th Grade Writing Snapshot 3 (Simulation)
The window for the next 4th grade writing snapshot (simulation) has been extended by one week: 2/11-3/1. This will allow teachers to utilize some of their work time on the February 15th staff day to score student compositions as a team, if they choose to do so. This change is reflected on the Elementary District Snapshot Schedule.NEW ITEM: 4th Grade Writing Testing Genre
It is recommend that teachers implement a traditional writing workshop during the first few weeks of the writing testing genre. This includes grammar talks and instruction focused on opinion writing. Be sure to check out the resources on Heinemann.MOY Literacy Assessments An instructional reading level must be entered into Aware for ALL students at this time. However, a face-to-face DRA is only required for students who are reading below level.

Twitter Chat on Thursday, January 29th from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. This twitter chat will be an interactive twitter chat centered around writing in science. This is a great professional learning opportunity.
