Cadet Ensign Bailey Kelley Named Navy/Marine Corps CTSO Vice President
Alabama is one of very few states which places JROTC within the Career Technical Education and specifically, the Government and Public Administration Career Cluster. As such, JROTC has Career Technical State Officers (CTSOs) (President, Senior Vice President, and three Vice Presidents) just as Future Farmers of America (FFA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), etc. have their own state leaders.
Each year, five JROTC cadets are selected to represent the interests of the 105 Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps JROTC units and more than 18,000 cadets in Alabama. For the 2021-22 school year, Cadet Lieutenant Commander Emily Monroe (Hazel Green JROTC Battalion Executive Officer) was the Navy/Marine Corps JROTC CTSO Vice President. At the Alabama JROTC Leadership Conference in Prattville, AL on 11 March, Cadet Ensign Bailey Kelley was selected to represent Alabama cadets as the school year 2022-23 Navy/Marine Corps CTSO Vice President. As part of her duties, Cadet Kelley will attend a three-day summer CTSO Leadership Training course at Opelika and participate in quarterly planning meetings in Montgomery. When time allows, Cadet Kelley will also visit various other units across Alabama to promote unit participation in JROTC state-wide activities. Cadet Bailey Kelley is following her brother, Colin Kelley's footsteps, as he was a JROTC CTSO for the 2020-21 school year. Hazel Green High School JROTC cadets can be proud of having had a CTSO selected seven out of the past eight years. Congratulations, Bailey!!

Check-Out Procedures:
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office. Remembering this will save you some time when you arrive to check out your student.
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone or email checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please remember that we do not allow walk-in check outs after 3:00 p.m.
