All your JA in a Day Headquarters

On Tuesday, November 24 we will be hosting JA in a Day for our third year! Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities that empowe children to own their economic future. The JA program's focus is on entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy. Junior Achievement has prepared 5 hands-on lessons for each grade level. I have taken those lessons and created Smartboard documents that will take you through the entire day. I will be sending those out this week as well as sending you your materials.

One of the really nice features about this day is that we work very hard to get volunteers in your classrooms to take on the teaching role. Some volunteers stay all day and you assist them and some can only committ for one to two lessons. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet new people and learn from their experiences.

With that said, we still need volunteers! If you know anyone who would be willing to be a part of this day, please ask them or let me ask them! You know that I am not shy about this...I have even gotten my parents and family friends to take part! Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Below you will find the class schedules. We will be supplying breakfast snacks for our guests and a Thanksgiving feast. I would love to have volunteers in the building by 8:00 for our early lessons so they can be briefed, ask questions, etc. All volunteers will sign in in the Media Center, it is JA Headquarters for the day! We will make sure that they have all materials they need prior to the day and if they would like training I would be glad to meet with them.

I will coordinate all volunteers, so please send me names if you have them. If you want them to work in your room we can make that happen! Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for taking the time to do this!

Supervision Reminder: Keeping Kids Safe

As things begin to get more and more hectic with the holidays approaching please remember the importance of CLOSE SUPERVISION of your friends and TEACHING EXPECTATIONS.

Supervision: you should never leave a student and/or students unattended! One can every anticipate what would happen. Please ensure the safety and security of your classroom community by keeping eyes on!

Expectations: Again, we all know routines and expectations are important--and as the holidays approach those expectations MUST be directly taught and reinforced--how can this be done? Let them know and review with them--what it looks like! What it looks like in the hall! What it looks like on the carpet! What it looks like in the classroom!

I was in a classroom the other day and and it was great to see a pledge for reading! Each expectation was reviewed and they knew what it looks like to be a reader! GREAT JOB Mr. Wade!

Thanks for all you do to ensure DRE is the place to be!

Change is Good!

Friends,
I know many of you have heard whispers, full conversations, and a whole lot of speculation....but here is what I know....DRE is all about kids! DRE teachers do what ever it takes to work to ensure students are successful! That being said, this means we change schedules sometimes to ensure students needs are being met!

That being said The SPED schedule is changing Monday! The Sped Schedule is changing MONDAY! We are grateful for the incredible staff who have worked tirelessly constructing, deconstructing and constructing again the schedule. Please be patient as we work out the kinks. I know the SPED team is working to communicate all the changes. Thank you!

I am so grateful! I am so blessed for all of you! Thank you for your flexibility! Thank you for your patience! Thank you for your problem solving! Thank you for being a #DREschool! A #DREteam:)
If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask and thank you for all you do!
