TIES Program

Promoting participation in extracurricular and community activities, the TIES (Together Including Every Student) program provides effective support for children and young adults with developmental disabilities.
The program, sponsored through Gananda Central School District, is currently seeking both volunteers to help participants with developmental disabilities join activities, and participants who want to learn about their community and have fun with peers. Students in grades 8-12 are eligible to volunteer in the program, and youth between the ages of 8-21 are eligible to participate in the program.

Visit the Gananda website for more information and to fill out an application.

If you are interested in volunteering, participating, or have questions about TIES, contact TIES Coordinator Jennifer Letendre or ganandaties@gananda.org.

Virtual Presentation Regarding Erin's Law Curriculum Set For January 27, 2022

A New York State law known as Erin's Law (Chapter 187 of the Laws of 2019), requires public schools to teach child sexual abuse and exploitation prevention classes to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Erin's Law is named for Erin Merryn, an abuse survivor and activist against child sexual abuse who has advocated for similar laws nationwide for over a decade. Erin’s Law is intended to help children, teachers, and parents in New York State schools identify sexual abuse, and to provide awareness, assistance, referral, or resource information for children and families who are victims of child sexual abuse.

We are partnering with the Bivona Child Advocacy Center to help facilitate this important training. In grades K-5, a trained staff member will teach the required grade level content. Students in each grade level will receive two lessons and these lessons will be taught across all buildings on a rotating schedule from Feb 8 through May 1.

We will be offering a virtual presentation about this curriculum for our families with students in grades K-5 on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 7pm. To participate in the virtual presentation, click on the following link at 7pm on January 27:

(*This link will only be live at 7:00pm on January 27.)

You can also learn more about Erin's Law and the curriculum on our website. We hope you will join us for the important information.

NYS Regents Tests Canceled for January

Due to the cancellation of Regents for January 2022, we have to have classes meet January 25-28, rather than follow a midterm/Regents exam attendance only schedule. The revised calendar document for the HS can be found here.

The Building Leadership Team, based on feedback from staff, decided that we will have an alternate schedule on January 26-27 so that each class can meet for an 80-minute block, to ensure time is given for midterm exams. The alternate schedule for Wednesday-Thursday, 1/26-27, can be found here.

If you have any questions, please contact Matt Mahoney at mmahoney@gananda.org or call me at 315-986-3521, extension 3154.
