Principal's Message
Congratulations scholars you have completed the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year! You have created art, memorized the foundations of science, solved math equations, wrote literary pieces, performed music notes, delivered Civic Night presentations, developed codes in technology, exercised in PE, and traveled through history. You are to be commended for your devotion to academic success coupled with all of your responsibilities, from babysitting siblings, working part time jobs, and household chores. Winter is coming and we get a two week break! It is time to rest, reflect, and rejuvenate. Begin with self care because it is essential. Reconnect with family and friends via technology, keep your mind and body healthy, try a daily meditation practice, create a new healthy habit like yoga or dance, and monitor your social media intake. Next, it is also a time to prepare yourself for the upcoming second semester that will begin, Monday, January 4, 2021. What have you learned about yourself? How can you get organized? What have you learned about time management? Have you met with your counselors and or teachers before school, after school, or on a Wednesday for support? Have you scheduled a tutorial session with Tutor.com/emery? Have you inquired about mental health support at Emery to help manage stress? Make a plan and identify goals that you want to achieve during the second semester. Visualize yourself having a successful second half of the school year. Have self-compassion which means to accept and love yourself. Finally, remember that you have a network of people who want you to succeed - your family, friends, office staff, campus supervisor, teachers, and your principal. You are wonderfully made and you got this!
Stay safe and make healthy choices. Happy holidays and have a Happy New Year!
