Third Week of Advent

Advent Service Project...LAST WEEK TO SEND IN ITEMS!

Our primary grades (K-2) are collecting items for our men and women in the military through Operation Shoebox.

"Operation Shoebox embraces a practical mission of providing hands-on support for our troops deployed overseas and returning home. It is the mission of Operation Shoebox to meet the needs of every hero with dignity and appreciation.

Whether it looks like packing coffee, socks, toothpaste and sports gear into care packages or sending letters of encouragement, whether it looks like organizing fundraisers or collecting supplies for homeless veterans, Operation Shoebox is committed to treating every hero with care and honor."

We will be collecting items until December 18th. Items include:

Advent/Christmas Theme Day

Thursday, December 17th is Advent/Christmas Theme Day. For a $1 donation (St. Vincent de Paul), students may wear Advent/Christmas colors (purple, green, red, gold, white, etc.) with jeans or other pants. Please refer to the Handbook for reference.

It's Getting Cold Outside!!!

With the fall, chilly air among us, please make sure that your child has a jacket or coat to wear at recess. As long as the temperature is above freezing and no precipitation coming down, we will have outdoor recess. It's always a good idea for them to have a hat and a pair of gloves in their backpacks.

December "Book-It!" Reading Logs

December "Book-It" sheets were sent home last week!! Students need to read 6 books (3 chapters in a chapter book = 1 book) by the end of Christmas Break (Jan. 4th) to get a FREE personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut! Please encourage your child to read at least 20 minutes each evening.

Mass Offering

Just a reminder that if your child would like to bring money to put in the collection basket at Mass, they may bring it on Mondays or Tuesdays before Mass. I have collection envelopes in the classroom for them to use. Students may also write a special prayer intention and put in the collection basket.

December Mass collections will be given to St. Vincent de Paul.

Ice Cream at Lunch

Ice cream may be purchased on Wednesdays and Fridays for 2nd grade students.

Thank You for the Snacks!!

Please remember to pack a snack for your child. We are always grateful for snacks given to the class for when one doesn't have a snack. We don't want anyone left out. Thanks! :)
