A Publication of St. Gabriel the Archangel School 8/10/2022
Dear Fabulous Families -
It's almost time to welcome our students back to St. Gabriel! We cannot wait to see everyone on Monday, August 15, 4:00-6:00 pm, for Meet the Teacher and School Supply Drop-off. Students should be receiving postcards from their homeroom teacher this week, so be sure to check the mailbox!
TeacherEase will be open tomorrow afternoon for parents to check schedules. Then teachers in grades 1-8 will send out a Sign Up Genius for parents to sign up for reading assessments which will take place next week during our staggered start dates.
We would like to welcome Sr. Marie Angele Sanchez to St. Gabriel. She is taking over for Sr. Anne Francis as Gabriel Club Director. (She is also looking for another person to join the after care team!) See the notice below.
Staff members have been busy with a variety of professional development activities from reading and curriculum writing to safety and inclusive practices. We continue to learn so we can better meet the needs of our students. See some of our staff members below!

Girls on the Run - Teams Forming
Is anyone interested in coaching for Girls on the Run? We have had SGA teams prior to COVID and look forward to starting new teams, if there are people interested in coaching them. Read below for more information from GOTR. Contact Mrs. McEnery, if you are interested, at tmcenery@stgab.org.
Girls on the Run St. Louis provides high quality, evidence-based programming that directly addresses the physical and mental health of girls in 3rd-8th grades. Girls in our community need a program like GOTR, and we are ready to support your school every step of the way.
We are planning for an eight-week in-person program, starting mid-September and ending with the 5K on 11/12/22.

St. Matthew the Apostle School Supply Drive
On Saturday, August 20, St. Matthew the Apostle (our sister parish) is partnering with other churches and Revitalization 2000 (The Claver House) in the VIlle to distribute 300-400 backpacks filled with school supplies. They need our help!!
You can join this amazing effort by:
1) purchasing supplies online through the Amazon shopping list on the Claver House donations page at https://revitalization2000.com
2) purchasing supplies at a local store and dropping them in the designated tubs in the vestibule at St. Gabriel’s until August 17th.
4) making a monetary donation at the website listed above prior to August 15(this would allow time for us to purchase supplies that might be lacking)
5) volunteering at the August 20th event and/or packing backpacks at St. Matthews on the evening of Thursday, August 18th
Contact Erin Grady at (314)-369-2945 with any questions or if you’d like to volunteer
**If you would like to volunteer at future food giveaways, or in educational enrichment programs at the Claver House please contact Steve Hutchison at (314) 265-3257.
